This is a wide open and vague question, since the U.S. is so large and has 50 states, all with much to offer, and so many kinds of geography, not to mention variations in economies as well.
The answer to this question very much depends on the individual! Whether you like cold winters, temperate climate, tropical, sub-tropical, hot and dry, you can find a region to suit your desires. Same as far as wanting to be around beaches, mountains, deserts, plains, or whatever.
Some professions lend themselves more to urban areas, or rural areas, or certain regions.
Personally, I am fond of the Pacific Northwest, and also New England.
As far as where is best to live, well, what is it YOU want in an ideal living situation? One of the beauties of the U.S. is that there is so much variety!
