How come in the UK there is pandamonium at the slightest hint of snow.
Trains stop running, buses are late, the roads gridlocked, people shop for food like the supermarket will never open again, stock pile the blankets, torches and tinned food incase this is infact doomsday itself.
ITS SNOW FOR GOD`S SAKE, IT`LL HAVE MELTED IN A FEW HOURS!!!!

Yes, I will be driving tomorrow, weather it snows or not, and I will be driving from a small village in the middle of knowhere without treated roads etc.
Everywhere else in the world with a similar, or worse climate manages to cope with it!

Why is it that after the age of 16 its against the law for snow to be fun.

f**k it if we all get snowed in so what? what can be put off for one day so that we can go out and build snowmen and have snowball fights - the rate this global warming is happening at maybe it will be one of the last times!

So enjoy y'all and stop moaning!!! (and if you are that desperate to get through - DIG!!! or use a hairdryer to melt it)

It depends on where you live, you probably don't get much snow so it's a big deal and people just don't know how to deal with it.
they don't know how to drive in it and are scared they will get stuck at home with a lot of snow and not be able to get to the store.

here in the US it can be as bad. In the northeast it's no big deal to get a few inches, life goes on.

In the Mid Atlantic around Richmond VA, a few inches and you would think the world is coming to an end. Everything shuts down.

I used to work for a major retailer, you can figure out who it was by knowing their home office was in Richmond, Va.

It didn't matter how much snow we got, we were supposed to stay open, although if we had close to a 12inches we would close.

But a the home office, a mere 3 inches and they would send everyone home. I can't tell you how many times we had to get answers from the home office but they were closed due to weather, yet we were getting hit by a blizzard and they expected us to stay open.

They just didn't get much usually, so they didn't know how to handle it, drive in it. They also don't have the equipment ot clean the streets as those of us in areas that usually get alot of snow.

I've had this discussion all day unfortunately people in this country are morons, they spend all their time watching soaps, reality TV and/or drinking, Nobody seems to be able to cope with even the slightest inconvenience, 6 inches of snow is not enough to cause a problem. I was in Slovenia when 5 feet of snow fell in 8 hours and guess what, no problems at all, cars and buses continued to run trains still ran there were no traffic problems at all. It amazes me how this country still runs when a little snowfall can cause so much chaos and panic. ITS JUST SNOW, ENJOY IT, BUILD A SNOWMAN!

I work for a highways dept and we will be gritting all night tonight and tomorrow when the snow is meant to arrive for us, but we will still get the twits who think they can just get in their cars and drive as normal. The 2 simple facts are its not worth the investment for the one or two days a year we get snow to have the equipment etc to deal with it like some other countries can and the public dont make any allowance for the conditions in their speed or time for journies. We get some of the daftest silliest complaints during times like this great fun.

Will the Brits ever grow up and stop whining over anything slightly unusual? I doubt it - but I don't care anymore because I'm gone in 3 weeks. I leave this sorry little island. For good.

No more late trains due to wet leaves. No more whingeing about floods or storms or snow or equality or the Queen's tax bill. Good day and good riddance.

Here in Michigan, it's 6 degrees farenheit and we have around 20 inches of snow on the ground. It's just a natural thing we see every year.

the news have to have story's and have to make them as scary as possible, if we get 4 inches of snow, they make it look like 4 feet of snow.
for example, the MTA strike in new york, they said there is a gridlock to get to Manhattan, we drove in anyway (had to work there). I took my digital camcorder and recorded going over the 59 street bridge, the bridge was empty believe it or not, I got the proof.
so, just go to work, like I do, don't believe what the news tells you.
I can't stand that s**t anymore with that news bulls**t

I will be working tomorrow but a lot of other people I work with live up a hill. When it snows the road is blocked and they simply cannot get in. I will be on my own :-(

Because even though we know its coming every year we don't prepare for it, everybody drives like its their first driving lesson.

We don't have the snow blows to keep the run ways clear, the trains wont run it its "that type" of snow.

And who's to blame, Global warming of course!
