If you're worried about the spelling of the nickname, you could just spell it Katelyn...but I personally think it's WAAAAAAAY too popular. Choose something classic. Those are always nice names.

I LOVED the names Caitlin and Hailey when I was a young girl, before they were popular. Now I look at my neices Hailey Dawn and Haley Marie, and they have to go by their first AND middle names because there are so many other girls with the same name. Caitlin has become equally trendy, but is still a pretty name. I remember growing up, and being grateful that I wasnt Ashley A., Ashley B., Ashley C., or Jessica A., Jessica B.... I've always loved having a less common, yet not impossible to pronounce name. Mine is Rachele (like Rachelle or Rashelle) My husband is Forrest, and our daughter is Brooklyn. If you do go with Caitlin, give her a pretty and less common middle name, just in case there are like 5 other Caitlins in her class.

I think it is becoming a little trendy/popular, but so is everything else. A friend of mine spells her daughters Kaytelyn. How you spell the nickname is really up to you, people spell things differently all the time. Unless you come up with some out of whack name, there will always be another kid that has the same name. When I named both of my daughters, Savannah and Shaina, the names were very rare, now there are 3 Savannah's in my daughter's class. I also hear the name Shaina a lot too.

I think it is a beautiful name for a beautiful little girl. I would spell it Catelyn to be a bit different and use Cate as nickname. I've got 3 boys but believe it or not when we were thinking of girls names we had both in mind. As a childcare worker I get to see the trends in names and Catelyn went around about 4-8 yrs ago, not so common at moment and I've only ever none 1 Alexis, nicknamed Lexi. Good luck and enjoy your little princess.

I like it. I just don't like the spelling of Caitlin.
I think Caitlyn is better, or Katelyn.
As for Cate, I think you should do Catie if you go with the C. Otherwise, do Kate, or Katie.
Good luck!

I think its a lovely name and I like it spelled as you have it. It is growing in popularity, but I don't think it's too trendy. I personally think its a very classic name. I would spell the nickname Cait.

I think the name is popular, but mixing up the spelling can add a little diversity to the name. I like the Kaitlin form.

Hello NJ
I´m from Germany, and I think Caitlin is really popular name, even in Germany. Here in our Country it sounds a bit old.
I think, it´ll be great, when you first SEE your baby for a moment to have a look, and then to give her the RIGHT name.
Greetings from Bayern, where the ladys call
Susanne, Anita, Heidi, Maren, Resi, Ina, Claudia, Ella,....
Sorry for the worse English

I personally don't like it. It seems too blah. Caitlin is sooo over done. Enough is enough, geeze! (Not to you by any means). Alexis is nice. But, it is defintly going up the charts. Johnson of course is a popular last name, so I would go with the 1st/2nd a little bit 'not so popular'. How about this:
-Allyson Rae Johnson (A little older, but nice!)
-Heather Penelope Johnson (Different combo!)
-Rachel Grace Johnson
-Madeline Jade Johnson

I like the name, but I would spell it Katelyn and call her Kate. Kate is a nice name for a child, but also sounds nice after she grows up.
