Why are so many women terrified of germs? Why do they have such an obsessive fear of being exposed to germs? How come men are so much less likely to have an irrational fear of germs?

I think most men are more relaxed and easy going. I know myself that I get easily keyed up and nervous about things; and I am very much a germ-a-phob.

There's worry and then there's OCD- obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
We are now socially conditioned to think we're actually healthier with less germs- which means our immune systems go down the drain, along with our co-pays and the rising costs of insurance.
OK, that's women's stuff.
Then there's Howard Hughes.
That's mental terror.
Please distinguish the two.

I don't think it is just women. I know more guys than gals who are compulsive hand washers and won't step within 20 feet of anyone who sniffles. Also, more Moms than Dads swoop in when it comes to wiping noses, changing diapers and dealing with a sick kid at the fair.

it must be a regional thing or something because I know far more men that are terrified of germs than women. except my mom, giminy crickets, she is phobic about it. she'd freak when I'd pick up my baby's pacifier, wipe it off, and plop it back in her mouth.
(I live in texas.)

i know more psycho germa phobe men than women. i'm pretty laided back when it comes to germs and stuff..you need to be exposed to things in order for your body to build immunities to it.

Actually, the only two germophobes I know are men. Honestly, I have no idea what the statistics are about the correlation between germophobia and sex.
