I need to do something for my boyfriend that is really special; something sweet and romantic for Valentine's Day. We have been together for a little over 3 years and our relationship was starting to suffer, mainly because of the fact that he was not doing anything with his life (he had no job and wasn't going to school). I tried to help, but he only took it as nagging, and not wanting it to hurt our relationship further I stopped, but the fact that I was paying for everything and feeling very unimportant (his getting a job was the only thing stopping us from moving in together and taking our relationship to the next level) in his life still weighed heavily. Well, he finally did everything on his own; he got a great full time job that he is doing well at and he goes to school 2 days a week. I am very proud of him, and the fact that he finally did something for himself and for us means a lot to me. I just want to show him that I always believed in him, and how proud of him I am!

Please don't give any rude or perverted ideas. I'm looking for meaningful heartfelt answers (ideas leading to sex are okay, but I don't need any details about the actual thing, I think I can handle that part myself), I want this to be something special that he will carry in his memories forever. I truly love my boyfriend and I think that shows with the fact that I stuck by his side, even when he put me on the back burner. We are young, yes, but we have been through very hard times (that I do not wish disclose to everyone), many ups and downs and our relationship is strong and wise beyond our years. I am a smart girl and would not even consider moving in with someone unless I knew that it was going to be a good, healthy, long lasting relationship.

First of all, I like you addition on the sex thing, because there seem to be people here that think, we need to be taught.
Do you know what he really likes.
I was thinking of you both getting a couples massage. Have a nice wine tasting together, make it a very relaxing day, if you can take a whole day, otherwise write him a card with a handmade coupon to go to a place like that on the next day off together.
If this is going to be too expensive for you why not buy some good massage oil and cook him his favorite dinner, making it nicely decorated, give him a massage and hop into the tub together with a nice fragrance, that makes you both relax and enjoy each others company. Good luck.

I bought my husband a really nice silver keychain with his initials engraved on it. It's something he wants, it's personal, and it's something he can use for years, and most importantly it's useful and not something that's a waste of money. Maybe something along that line would make a good gift. I got his at a local jewelry store that sells gifts and engraves; and it wasn't outrageously expensive.

Maybe a fun treasure hunt with something special at the end. If you are looking for great actual gifts, I love:

one idea that i plan on doing this v-day is to plan a scavenger hunt. you can have it lead to all sorts of places such as where you had your first kiss and your first date and such. the possibilities are endless. the final clue could lead to a candle lit dinner with roses petals from the front door leading to it. what happens after that is up to you :)
