I do not think we should allow the government to file information on our DNA. Any case in which DNA is needed, it is usually available. For eample, if your child is kidnapped, give the police his toothbrush so they will have his DNA on file. Then if he's found, you'll be able to ID him.
The only reason to do this is to make it possible for police to find criminals who aren't in the DNA database. Someone robs a store, you have no evidence other than some DNA you found. The danger is that DNA would quickly become the ONLY evidence that matters, and criminals would be doing everything they could to plant false DNA at every crime scene.

Good question. It would make solving crimes & identifying bodies alot easier. But it seems like an invasion of privacy. Maybe just have anyone who has been suspected or arrested give their DNA.
But beleive or not there are problems with dna, like chimeras that have two types of dna. Its supposedly rare but since its hard to prove even with those who have it it has the potential to be much more common.

Why not just have a micro chip implanted in every new born? That way we could track them and if he or she committed a crime we would know instantly. Of course, all of us law abiding citizens wouldn't have to worry, right? We would only be subject to the commercialization of that information when the government, or some crooked bureaucrat, decided to sell the information.

Why bother, you only need DNA to link someone to a crime when the crime's committed. If you have a suspect, what good is their DNA if you can't find them? If you can find them, you can get their DNA. It would be a costly waste of time.
