I think it would help people to know what your budget is.... I really think the nissan sentra with a wing is cute this year (if your budget is big, they have a nice one called the SE-R model coming out in the spring that is very sporty- my husband LOVES his new altima SE-R), or maybe a beetle (my last car was a beetle and I know I got tons of looks & attention in it from all the kids/teens because they LOVED my car (I had the bright blue one).

I would say not to buy brand new. My wife is 19 and I wont even buy her a new car. She has already had three wrecks and backed into several items. If you still want to buy a new one, I would say stick with something safe and non-sporty for insurance purposes. My wife drives a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant. We have had it for about a year now and haven't had any problems with it. She loves it. I would say any foreign car is the way to go, they get great gas mileage, tend to run a little cheaper on the insurance, and tend to be safer than American cars.

Toyota Camry LE version. Great fuel economy quiet, handles perfectly, standard disc pads last 60,000 - 80,000 miles, four cylinder motor is so quiet you can barely hear it run. I've had one for three yrs. It's been the shop once. Anti - knock sensor was replaced under warranty. Have a Great time shopping. Take a ride in this model and see what both you think. Oh, great resale value also.

I am on my third teenage first car, please don't buy a brand new car. It is not a matter of "IF" its a matter of" WHEN" she is going to have some sort of an accident. You will feel much better if you buy her a SAFE, good, dependable used car so she can bang away. When she runs over that first curb & backs into that pole you'll really be glad you did. Not to mention how much full coverage insurance runs for an underaged driver. Save the "NEW CAR" for graduation.

Get her a honda accord, toyota camry or mazda. All are safe and hold their value, although I would never get a new driver a brand new car, they will have an accident eventually. Buy a eliable older car that they can dent a bit first.
