If HARRY POTTER's world does exist in our world, what would happen then? Will we become hostile or friendly toward THEM?

Let say that they somehow declare their existence right now. They wish to cooperate together with us to fight the common enemy together and they wish to share their knowledge with us. What would we do?

Will we accept them with open hand or such severe prejudice? Are we going to have such better civilization... or worse? What would happen to humanity as a whole then? What kind of world do you think would occur here (in our MUGGLE world) and there (in their WIZARDRY & WITCHCRAFT world)? Could science & magic just... get along?

What an interesting idea! If witches and wizards declared their existance to us and wished to peacefully coexist, I think they'd meet with a great deal of fear and hostility. Unfortunately, there would be a lot of people that would regard their good intentions with suspicion. The potential for abuse of invisibiliy cloaks, Polyjuice potion, love potion, cursed items and memory modification would definitely be cause for concern. How could Muggles ever trust what they thought to be true if they were aware such possibilities existed? I'd bet that they'd never feel safe, knowing that they couldn't even trust their own senses and had no way to combat such things without magic. I'm sure that there would also be those that would be thrilled to have access to the benefits of magic. But, it would also have the downside of the Dark wizards that engage in Muggle-baiting, Muggle-torture and murder. It would no doubt lead to some violence; Death Eaters (who _are_ terrorists) and those like them (ie. one of Sirius's relatives tried to make "Muggle hunting" legal) wouldn't approve of wizards associating with Muggles and certainly not of intermarriage. They aren't the type to stand by and do nothing. There would be attacks. I can't help but think of the movie "X-men: The Last Stand" when considering this question.

Sadly, I don't think that science and magic would get along (as fantastic as an idea it is). When asked by a fan, "Can Muggles brew potions if they follow the exact instructions and they have all the ingredients?" J.K. Rowling said:

"Well, I'd have to say no. Because there is always a magical component in the potion. Not just the ingredients so at some point they will have to use a wand. I've been asked what would happen if a muggle picked up a magic wand in my world and the answer would probably be something accidental and probably quite violent because the wand in my world is merely a vehicle or a vessel of sorts and there is a very close relationship as you know between the wand that each wizard uses and themselves. And you'll find out more about that in book 7. For a muggle you need the ability, in other words, to make these things work properly but you're right and I think that's an interesting point. As Potions seems on the face of it to be the most muggle-friendly subject. But there's normally a point in which you need to use magic."

Failing to successfully complete the potion they'd attempted, Muggle scientists probably wouldn't believe that magic exists at all. They'd only truly accept what they could _prove_ and therefore we'd always have sceptics claiming that magic is a trick, illusion or other falsehood. I think that there would be too much fear and mistrust on both sides for us to really live together peacefully. Muggles would be afraid that wizards would abuse their power and wizards would be afraid of being persecuted. Personally, I'd happily marry a wizard, but it would have its risks.

If Harry Potter's world existed in ours I think multiple things would happen. It might cause chaos with people feelings hatred towards magic. Or it might create peace as they usually all live a life far out in the country spending the days practicing spells, and relaxing. The scenery in that movie is oh so beautiful. Personally I wish it were true.

u read my mind man!!! when i was like seven and first started reading harry potter, I would wonder if I had magical powers and when I turned 11, would I receive a letter inviting me 2 hogwarts. Silly, I no. but don’t worry, im now 14 and much more mature. Anw, answering ur question, I dun think that we muggles would stand a chance against the death eaters! We’ll probably just panic and hide and then we’ll all get killed. Pretty sad.

I love Harry Potter!!!! :-) I wish it did exist. However, they would never be accepted. Look how long it took for us to give blacks the respect they deserved and now what they do to gays. Look what they did to the Native Americans! We'd probably try to take over their world claiming it would somehow be safer for us when really they just have what we want. Especially with Bush in power!

They do get along in a way, there is always science in the magic and magic in the science. I guess those are meant to be parallel worlds, never interfering each other, except in a narrow twilight zone maybe :).

First of all, there isn't two different worlds, its the same world, but some people can use magic. Second of all, if it did exist, it says in the books, muggles don't know about the wizard "world". Third of all, oh yeah, thats all i have to say.

You got to think about it this way. If it was true then we wouldn't know. That is because in the book muggles don't know about wizards. We would be the muggles. We are the muggles if it is true.

The "muggles" would hunt down all the witches and kill them all.

Humans are taught from birth to hate and fear anything different.

A lot of ignorant people would be up in arms just like when any other new culture makes an appearance (gays, immigrants, etc.). I think quiddich would be fun though.
