They dont study to adhere to the teachings ..... they look for comfort and confusion. For example; if someone responds to your question with "the bible says 'he who is without sin' cast the first stone" ... using this scripture to say everyone is quilty of something and nobody has a right to condemn gays, ... They havent sincerely acknowleged their own disobedience to scripture and justify not doing so. They refuse to understand that though you arent guiltless, you do have the mind to study for adherence and obedience, and you recognize abominations and disobience when you see it because you study and practice NOT to be a part of it. Gays dont study to adhere, they read and participate to be accepted.

I think this letter written to Dr. Laura sums up my feelings best:

Dear Dr. Laura,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's law. I have learned a great deal from you, and I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend homosexuality, for example, I will simply remind him or her that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other laws in Leviticus and Exodus and how to best follow them. To wit:

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Leviticus 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. How should I deal with this?
I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as stated in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Leviticus 15:19-24). The problem is, how can I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
Leviticus 25:44 states that I may buy slaves from the nations that are around us. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Canadians, but not Mexicans. Can you clarify?
I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
A friend of mine says that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Leviticus 10:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
Leviticus 20:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help.

Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Sincerely,
A devoted listener

Look you can believe what you want. The beauty of freedom of religion is that I do not have to listen to you. GROW UP

How do you reconcile the fact you're judging gays as being sinful while God also said that He is the only judge?

Also, do you wear clothes made out of blended fabrics, eat shellfish, or eat pork? That's all banned by the bible too. Heck, you're a woman so you shouldn't even be talking to all of the male readers in here. You should let your husband do all the talking for you.

Get a clue, Sweetie. You're missing the whole point of our religion. If you really want to make Jesus happy, spend your free time working in a homeless shelter or something. Don't waste your time bothering people that were BORN gay (and there's plenty of evidence to show that's the case--- evidence that I believe God wanted the world to discover or else it wouldn't be available to us).

I'm going to pray really hard for you tonight because I believe you have a good heart. You're just very misguided and you need to educate yourself more about your faith. Have a blessed day.

First of all I want to say that many of this fools on here are simply stupid for not just answering your question. You never insulted anyone, you just asked a ligitmate question. I find it amazing that people rather throw a buch questions at you in order to prevent themselves for even answering the question.

Personally I don't have any problems with the gay community. I have a gay friend and I've never had a problem working with any of them. It's just their lifestyle that I don't approve of. No before everyone starts saying that I'm wrong for thinking the way that I do just listen to my argument. I am Christian above anything else, now I'm not overly religious, but the bible does state that homosexuality is wrong. Now I have two choices 1) I can choose to follow what God says or 2) I can choose not to listen to God's word to please the homosexual community. Those who claim to be real Christians tend to go with option #1. Now I'm not saying gays are bad people, I know for a fact that I am far from perfect. Gays or just like straight folks, some good and some are bad. Its just I to go with what the Bible says.

Now if your an atheist, then obviously what God has to say means nothing to you. But for those of us you proclaim to be Christians, there's simply no excuse for you not to follow the word. I find it amazing that someone can read the word abomination and can try to justify why it doesn't mean homosexuality isn't wrong. The last time I checked that word wasn't a good thing.

I don't want it to seem like I'm just picking on gays, because there are lot of things in Bible that tells us what we shouldn't be doing. And we just try to change the words up to justify our actions. Everybody wants to believe in the Bible, until they see something the speaks of they are currently do. The right thing to do would be to stop what your doing, but people would rather change the meaning and then spread the lie, which confuses everyone. If that's the case your better off disregarding the Bible all together.

The word which you are translating as "abomination," "to-eva" doesn't mean abomination. It is better rendered as a ritual violation, and only applies to Jews, living in the land of Israel at the time when the Temple was standing. The same word is applied to Joseph and his brothers when the Egyptians will not eat a meal with them because it is a "to-eva" to the Egyptians. So according to Genesis, in the Egyptian religion it was an abomination, a to-eva to have a meal with foreigners.

As to the story of Sodom and its echo in Judges, the people of Sodom didn't want to have loving, committed relationships withe the angels, they wanted to rape them. You are aware of the difference between the two?

I Kings talks about some form of ritualized sex as part of worship of false gods, again it doesn't deal with gay life as we know it today.

On the other hand, I Samuel 20 speaks of the physical love between David and Jonathan and verse 41 may well be a hint that when they embraced, David got a hard-on, the literal meaning of "Higdil" being, "David was caused to become big."

Of course 2 Samuel 1 is David's famous lament for his lover Jonathan, where he compares his love for him to the love he has for women.

The love story of Ruth and Naomi is more subtle, but it clealy can be read as a lesbian love story.

Frankly I could care less what it does or does not condemn.
I am aware that many, far more learned scholars, do not interpret the Bible as you do, but as I said, I could care less.
It is not my religion.
It has no significance in my life.
It has no place in my life.
Why, when YOU disobey it, as in not going to places that you are unwelcome, if they won't hear your words you are to shake the dust from your feet and move on, let the one who is without sin be the first to cast a stone, and judge not lest ye be judged....Why should anyone listen to one such as you, one who acts like the Pharisee in paying lip service to the "scriptures" in public but disobeying whatever you find convenient, especially if it's to attempt to make others look bad or support your own bigotry.

because the Bible was written by MEN - fallible, biased, product-of-their-times men - and not directly penned by God. Even if you believe the Bible to be divinely inspired, that still allows for some differences in translation and interpretation by men.

besides, why are you so obsessed with what "sins" other people may be committing? aren't you supposed to focus on loving God and doing unto others what you would have them do onto? What happened to Christianity being about love and peace, instead of bigotry and hate?

No one can deny that the bible was put together by men, and also way after those things were actually written. I believe in God, but it's not a complete stretch of the imagination to think if it was put together by men, and written by men, and at that by men who were in a political position, that not everything in there would be from the "mouth of God", but from the mind of someone who knew they could get something by making it what they believed. Think about it.

I don't believe in the Bible.

Well, I believe it exists, but I don't believe that it has any merit beyond that of any other mythological texts. I choose to live my life by my own rules, not the ramblings of 4000 year old nomads.

Even if your God were real and your bible were his words, I would not change my life.

1. Those verses don't all condemn homosexuality

2. I'm an atheist and I don't care what you think your imaginary friend says I should do

3. The bible also says you can't eat shelfish or wear mixed fabrics and that you should kill people who don't believe the same as you and you should stone disrespectful teenagers to death. you believe all that?
