I have been this way for 2 weeks now.

An OB nurse once told me you can try straddling a chair or toilet facing the back. This might only work during active labor, however...

After 3 babies (one was induced!), I believe they come in their own time and there is nothing anyone can do to speed up or slow down the process, outside of a C-section.

Just wait until your Friday appointment.
If by then you have not dilated/delivered you may ask for an induction to help speed the contractions along.
For a safer induction they can perform a balloon catheter induction (looks like a condom filled with air) and if your contractions are still slow they may try Pitocin or Oxytocin (generic version)

good luck and congrats!!

dont rush it. You dont want to distress your baby. I was 1 cm for 5 days, there's nothing you can do...oh wait!!!
my cousins would caress my stomach from right below my breasts all the way down to the bottom of my belly, and they did it constantly, with a little bit of pressure, i went into labor that night. You can try that...but not too hard ok? Congrats!!! WOO HOO!

Walking didn't do anything for me, either. Ask your CNM or OB about stripping your membranes if you are concerned. It is slightly painful, (feels like strong menstrual cramps) but will dilate you further. Otherwise, try having sex, and most importantly, BE PATIENT. Good luck, and blessings to you and your baby.

Squat, my midwife recommended to get in the tub in warm water and grab the side or grab my husband and squat but just try not to push. Make sure that someone is there with you or at least close by.

the only thing i can suggest is walking because that's what they have you do in the hospital. what happened with me, is that they had to induce me because i was only dialated to 1 cm. , and i was 2 week past due.

Why are you rushing - you are still only 38 weeks? You can't make yourself dilate more - your body will do it on it's own when it's time. Be patient.

There isn't really anything you can do. If the Dr's feel that you need it they can induce labor, maybe at you appointment you can try to convince him or her to do that.
