You may have a spring tensioner that is weak. Also, are you sure that you are using the correct, quality belt?

Belt dressing is to quiet old, worn belts, and it's just temporary. My bet is on the spring tensioner.....or perhaps a bearing in a pulley.

many times its the water pump bearings that are doing teh screeching. You can check if there is wobble in the shaft when the belt is removed, it should spin freely and make no noise, if it binds thats where the isue is occuring.

Assuming you have tried tightening it with a wrench the best and simple way is to run a bar of hand soap over the inside of the belt itself which will create the necessary friction.

Take your car to a mechanic that has a good reputation and will be honest with you. There are quite a few things that might be the culprit. To find a quality mechanic ask friends and call your local Better Business Bureau.

Auto parts stores sell a liquid called 'belt dressing'. That usually works -- if it is really the belts that are screaching.
