When many people think of OCD, they automatically think of the compulsive behaviors, hand washing, counting, keeping things in order, etc. But part of OCD also includes obsessive thoughts. Obsessions are recurrent, persistent, unwanted ideas, thoughts or impulses that you experience involuntarily and that appear to be senseless. They commonly intrude when you're trying to think of or do other things. Common obsessions include:
Fear of dirt or contamination
Concern with order, symmetry and exactness
Constantly thinking about certain sounds, images, words or numbers
Fear of harming a family member or friend
Fear of thinking evil or sinful thoughts
Excessive doubts (including doubts about love)
If you have an obsessive-compulsive disorder, you probably know that your repetitive thoughts and behaviors are irrational and senseless, but you can't free yourself from them.

I have ocd and it makes me very insecure in some relationships. And causes me to doubt the other person's love or friendship with me. It's a really hard thing to get over but once the other person understands it makes it alot easier in my opinion.

It might, since OCD is about reducing ones anxiety.
If the anxiety is linked to love for another person the person needs to constantly reduce the anxiety be hearing f x "I love you".
So the OCD, linked to love, might become an addiction of trying to constantly reducing ones anxiety.
