I recently had this problem, and i freaked out, I found out though, turn it off for about 30 minutes, and then back on, or dont do anything. Thats IF you are in an area that is normaly not real cold, ( I am in Phoenix AZ) and something on the unit is not meant to deal with "freeze" or frost. If the piece freezes, it will suck out the hot air from your heater, to defrost it. I hope that is it, if so, wait a while, before calling a repair man.

I call the super if you are renting or the repair man.....
I assume you have checked the thermostat to see if a setting was switched by accident (would hate for someone to come and look at it and have you feel dumb when they pointed out the obvious)
Get it done right away though...if your anywhere in the midwest area today or where its cold out for that matter this would not be the day to have your heat go out....You don't want your water pipes to freeze and burst. Thats an expensive problem!
Good Luck

Is it a heat pump? How cold is it outside? If it's a heat pump and it's cold out, it might be putting out air that you THINK is cold. People often times think their heat pump is putting out cold air. Your body is 98.6 degrees, so even 80 degree air will feel cool to your hand. But 80 is certainly higher than your room temp, so it will still heat the home.

Probably the heating element of the appliance or if it is your home heater your pilot light might be blown out.

I had the same problem! but in my case it was because we had a power outage and we had to pull the power switch back on for the heater! try pulling the heaters power switch, it worked for me! Good luck

1. Check the thermostat and make sure it's on 'automatic' not 'fan'.
2. Check the pilot light, relight if necessary.
