I'm going to Vegas with my fiance in March and we're staying at Circus Circus early in the week. However, on March 18th we're staying at the MGM Grand because they have a good rate for that night. We would check out of the MGM Grand at 11 AM on the 18th and then we are catching our flight at 9 AM on the morning of the 20th. Since we probably need to be at the airport by 6 AM and will most likely stay out until at least midnight that night, is it worth it to get a hotel room for the evening of the the 19th? I'd love to save the money by not getting a room that night but would it be a huge hassle to be lugging bags around in the casino? I called the MGM Grand and they said the bellhop could hold our bags after checking out, but for how long? Are there other options for what to do with your luggage on the last day? We might get an airport locker. Or should we just bite the bullet and pay for a room to store our stuff? Thanks in advance for your help!

FYI, to the person who said there are no more airport lockers: I HAVE traveled in the last 5 years, and the Las Vegas Airport recently reinstated their lockers. Check the website if you need reassurance.

I tried it once, some things sound much better in theory than they work in practice. You can do it, and I guarantee, you'll be very sorry you did. You can leave your bags at the bell desk, they will tag your bags and give you a receipt. Tip them a buck a bag when you pick your bags up.

The better plan is just to get a hotel for the 19th, the NCAA basketball fans will all be gone and rates are reasonable.

I found these rates for the 19th on travelworm
Knights Inn McCarran - $34
Circus Circus - $47
Stratosphere - $49
Orleans - $50>the Orleans will price match that rate

A hint on how the Orleans does things>If you're going to play, sign up for separate slot club accounts. Give them both of your names when you check in. The Orleans is very good about sending out comp/or casino rate room offers and extras to those that both stay and play at their hotel..By signing up for separate accounts, they will send you two offers instead of one, you might as well get four free nights as two plus they usually add little extras on each offer, such as free buffets or show tickets..

I would highly recommend the Orleans, I stay there at least a couple of weeks a year. I guarantee you'll like it better than Circus Circus.

At Orleans you can get a room with an incredible view of the strip. Ask for a room somewhere on the 15th-19th floors, rooms 02-44(even). Rooms such as 1640-1732-1836 would all have views of the strip...

To get to the Orleans from MGM, you can take the bus if you're traveling light(no more than two carry on bags each), Yep just like the airlines. The #201 West bound Tropicans bus stops over by NY NY and will drop you right in front of the Orleans..Pay $2.50 for a 24 hour pass when you get on and you could take the bus to McCarran in the morning. A cab runs $12.50 from Orleans to McCarran, it's up to you. That early in the morning I would opt for the cab.

Have a great time.

Defiantly get a room, just in case. However...I'm not sure whether or not you have been to Las Vegas before or not but I don't really think you will enjoy Circus Circus. It is geared more toward kids and the pool area is not at all that of a typical hotel. If you're looking at cost I would check out the Flamingo (inexpensive and great pool area), Sahara (newly renovated) and although the Stratosphere is at the end of the strip it has nice accommodations and nice pool area, the bus is only $2.00. Regardless of what you decide any bell desk will give you a ticket and hold your luggage until you are ready for it, as long as you were a guest there. Enjoy your stay. Lots to see and do.

Maybe you haven't travelled in the last 5 years, but there are no airport lockers anymore. That, and the cost of taking a cab from MGM to the airport to store your bags in said imaginary locker and then a cab back to the strip will cost as much as a cheap room at the Orleans. Just get the room, you'll thank yourself later.

Defintately get a hotel room. You never know when you'll be tired from all the entertainment in Vegas. Believe me you don't want to walk around with luggage trying to find a locker to fit it all in or have the hassle of the bellhop holding onto the bags. Don't need any extra nags ! Just relax, get the room and enjoy your entire stay :)

I go to Vegas all the time and when I shop for rooms I find that the rates can be different each day of the week at each hotel. I suggest that you forget trying to stay in two, or maybe 3, different hotels. I suggest that you get on the web and find a less expensive room for all of the nights you will be there all in the same hotel. Hotels on the strip like HArrahs, Flamingo, Monte Carlo and Excalibur will be reasonably priced, unless there is a convention or special even in town. Or consider the Gold Coast which is right next to the Rio.

The Circus Circus is for families with kids; not the type place you may want as newlyweds. Another lower priced hotel would be the Sahara. But if it was me I would book one of the four above and not try to stay up all night. If you do decide not to get anotehr room, the bell desk will hold your bags as long as you want, but be sure to tip thema few bucks when you pick them up.

It maybe a long night if youre getting tired or even sick and dont whant to stay out all night. I would recomend you to get a sheap hotell/motel/hostel near the airport or on the monorail if it runs to the airport yet. One option could be to hire a care and have your luggage there fore the final night as a final resort. But its realy up to you! Have fun in vegas! Johan
