For how many hours should I be able to record on a Charter 40-gig DVR?

My son thought the DVR was 80-gigs but Charters says it is 40G. Let us say that the DVR is 40G. How many hours do you think it should hold in terms of recording shows? Thx!

It's about an hour per gig, so counting in the live TV buffer and extra space lost to other things, I'd say about 35 hours.

I used to have a 40gig Tivo with DirecTV and it recorded around that...

It's approximately 1GB per an hour for standard definition. If you are recording high definition, then it is 10GB per an hour.
