Of course I think the Braves "will try" to resign Andruw Jones, but that doesn't necessarily mean they will be successful. I'm sure they will offer him a fair contract, unfortunately there are desperate teams that do not care how much they have to spend to get an established star player. The Braves have to and will, draw the line at some point and say take our offer of this or leave it. They have been pretty successful in the past when dealing with players who they like to keep. There are many players that would love to play in Atlanta and Jones may consider it worth it to take less money to stay put.

no.
The Braves have limited resources and Jones is going to command Soriano and Carlos Lee type money. It makes no sense to resign him. In fact, unless the Braves are in 1st place around the all-star break, they need to seriously consider trading him by the deadline.
I should also point out that Jones was not the most productive hitter for the Braves in 2006. People get too caught up in HRs and RBIs. Brian McCann has far and away the most productive hitter in the Braves line-up in 2006.

NO, NO, NO! You can't win by overpaying for a .270 hitter who hits 45-50 homeruns. He is gonna want way to much money, and the Braves have some good young talent. As much as I have loved watching him patrol center, paying that much to resign him will take the Braves out of contention. I think you could look at either Francoer or Langerhans in center (both are good defensively) with Matt Diaz filling in the last spot. And with all the young shortstop prospects they have, one of them could move to second, and Kelly Johnson could switch back to outfield. Homewuns are nice, but unless Andruw wants a pay cut, it will hurt the team.

after losing thew division last year, it is time for the braves to go through a rebuilding year or two and build around other players. with jones still having a few good years left in him he his great trade bait to teams for some good pitching and some minor league talent. granted you are gonna have to spend some money on free agents, but for the money jones is going to want it would be wiser to get someone a little younger.

If they can get him cheap, then of course. But most likely, he will want a lot of money and that could be a problem. I think they should trade him some time or another. They could get a lot out of him.
Go Braves!
Nacnud, the BRAVES will win the World Series.

They'll try to re-sign him but if the current trend of players jumping ship to follow the money continues, don't get your hopes up too high. I'm all for diversity but teams are getting a total makeover every 3 or 4 years!
God Bless Kirby Puckett and Cal Ripken and Brooks Robinson and Stan Musial...

Yes if he remains healthy this season. However the Braves are going to be under new ownership soon and there willingness to pay or not pay out the big bucks will have the final say.

I think they should sign him. He is one of the best players in Braves history. His #25 will one day be retired by the Braves. They should definitely sign him.

He will probably end up out of Atlanta's price range. He is way better than Carlos Lee and Argueably better than Soriano and they got over 100 million apiece. It is going to be a huge loss for them.
