FDM is correct. But the area in question, also has/had a large population of Spanish in the region. So, all in all, it reinforced the Catholic presence in the country -- moving away from the more English cultures and Protestant religions of the regions just east of area. -- The South is noted of drinking iced tea, while the North, drinks coffee. The southeast holds more closely to the English cultures than does the central, westen and northern regions/states.
On a socio-economic scenerio, the purchase also opened the mouth of the Mississippi river to trade and travel without having to pay an added taxor tariff -- paid to the French government, thus allowing for a greater mixing of the melting pot of humanity.

It doubled the geographic size - making it among the largest countries on earth. Greatly increased the population. That population now included the descendants of french settlers and the creoles among others. Both very different from the typical "american". Also cultural customs tended to be more akin to french than anglo customs. Many in the area spoke french.

The Louisiana purchase in basic terms fee the united states $15 million even though it doubled the size of the country in a single day. It gave us organic factors that had no longer yet been found. We have been given a necessary port in New Orleans on the time. right this moment in Texas, we are nonetheless dealing with the aftermath of issues from Katrina (New Orleans), so i assume we are able to blame the Louisiana purchase for that.
