Definitely a happy life that's shorter. But really, that depends on the person doesn't it? Some people will never be happy no matter how much they have, and some can be just as happy with very little. So maybe this question is really about can you change the type of person you are?

I think you can. I mean.. we've all heard stories about people that have a near death experience, then come back invigorated, ready to really live life. In the same way... you can balance it. You can treat your body like it's the mortal husk it is... by eating healthy, exercising regularly, etc... But then keep your mind active by trying new things, thinking about ideas you'd normally write off, or putting yourself in situations that are slightly uncomfortable.

I think I would choose my health any day over being happy. Happiness comes and goes. Life has it's ups and downs so I would take being healthy before happy. Happiness will be found off and on.

There are many many healthy people that are living long lives but are not happy. So I'd rather know I'm going to be happy, I'm not sure I'd want to live a very long time anyway and see all the people I care about die around me. So I want to be happy, thats what it should be all about anyway!

Being healthy and living a long life; in turn, that would make me happy.

Either scenario is fine with me. I figure when it is time to go, you don't have a lot of options.

Nonetheless, I would like to stick around and see what happens next, but not if I am unhealthy.

If you are unhealthy, odds are pretty good you aren't all that happy, either. So this question really does pose some interesting sides.

I suppose it is possible to be sickly and still happy, but I can't think of a single instance where this might apply.

Happy but shorter, longevity is only necessary if you are happy, no-one wants to outlive all their loved ones or just exist for the sake of it, Id rather live for every moment and fall down at 60 than just keep going on my own and live til 80 or something.

I would rather be happy. Everyone's health fails them at some point. Besides what is the point of being healthy if you aren't happy? Can you really be healthy if you aren't happy?

Being happy and having a short life. I know too many depressed people in order to think that physical health and time automatically brings happiness. However, if you're including mental health in that, I'd have to answer this again.....
