Girls I am a UK size 16 and consider myself to be fat. ( I am trying to lose weight, and I have lost 7lbs!) How about you ?

Guys would you consider someone my size or would you prefer a skinnier girl ?

xhelenx - from the way you write I think you are very young. Guys don't all like skinny girls - I've been happily married for 10 years and have had plenty of boyfriends beforehand and my husband is not ugly and he did have a choice!!!!! Stop being influenced by the media;s idea of a perfect woman!!!!

Enjoy your curves honey the UK average is a 14-16!! I don't think you are fat . You aren't a pathetic, weedy stick insect but you aren't fat! I hate seing these awful size zero girls! If I was a bloke I wouldn't touch Victoria Beckham with someone else's!!

Uk and American sizes differ quite a lot, so maybe some people from the US don't understand our sizing here. Marilyn Monroe was a size 16, and I don't think there are many people that would consider her fat. It depends a lot on your height and bone structure and body type. I am a UK size 6, but then I am short and of medium build so I look a lot bigger than I am, people cannot believe it when I say I am a size 6. I think too many people are too hung up on "what size" and teen girls now are even more pressured, when I was young everyone wanted to be a size 8, now it's all about size 0. Girls, wake up and realise that unless you are naturally skinny, then you will have to starve yourself to achieve size 0, and you will damage your chances of having children, the human race will be wiped out as girls will all become too skinny to have children.

I think a person is over weight when they do not feel healthy. A size 16(in US) is bigger than most girls but how tall are you? Like me I am 5'5 and lbs 158 and a size 10 or 12 and I think I need to lose about 10-15 lbs. Great job on the 7lbs. I know how great that feels. I started a diet a week and a half ago and as of Monday I lost 3.5 lbs. Stay healthy!!!

I'm currently a uk 16 too and 5ft 7". However I don't consider myself fat now, just chubby although I am trying to lose more weight, hopefully will get to size 14. I felt I was actually fat 2 stone ago heading towards a size 20. It really upset me when I realised how I had neglected myself.
Well done for losing half a stone!!

I don't think it's about size. I'm a size 6 (uk) and although I'm skinny from the hips up, my legs are chunky and carry weight, nobody tends to notice as I either wear long skirts or wide leg trousers. My mum has always been a size 12 or 14 but she has little sparrow legs, really skinny. Height and a persons frame can make the same weight look totally different on two people.

Oh honey you're not fat. 16 is the perfect size for all the real, curvy girls who enjoy food and appriciate their bodies. I'm size 16 myself. I think size 20 onwards maybe being fat.

I was size 20 a year ago, now I've lost 2 stones and I don't think I wanna lose any more weight.

I too size 16 and consider myself fat although it wasn't that long ago when I was 2 stone lighter and only size 12. Health problem and stopping smoking has aided me to gain weight plus I refuse to diet as I have never had to in my life before but I do exercise daily.

I do feel slim though when stood by some people who are alot heavier than I am.

Well done for losing 7lb.

Im a UK size 8 but I used to be a size 14! Lol I thought I was fat but looking back I wasn't really. But I'm not saying I don't enjoy my size now. I seem to have a lot more guys hitting on me now and have a boyfriend who still calls me fatty or muffin! Basically I think that whatever you want is good! Woop!

In america the average female size is 12-14 (i am a 12) congrats on the 7 lbs no weight lose is easy I would like to lose a little also but no one has the right to call you or anyone else fat. Please don't ask men what they prefer. The right man will love you regardless of waist size. Good luck and keep up the good work.
