Dont forget the size quoted of "40mm" is the INTERNAL DIAMETER of the pipe. Not the extrernal measurement. We are a specialist supplier a range of customised porcelain diamond drill holesaws. Now it depends how perfect you want your finish to be. You could get away with our 42mm diamond crown. But if it was me I would use a 45mm crown to give yourself a bit of room. You can find the proper selection and full instructions at our website http://www.365drills.com or our e-commerce site http://www.365drills.net

not sure what you mean. if using a shower tray hole is there. if making a wet room with waste in floor cut out as per instructions or measure diameter or if you are cutting out underneath where the tray is going then just cut a big hole will need to for access.

All is dependent on what the plumber put in for pipe. The trap is just a cover plate, right?
