I've sold many things on there. There is a small fee based on the type of listing and how much the item sells for. You can put in the listing "Buyer pays all shipping charges" and the person buying the item covers shipping. That's pretty standard.
Get on there and check out all the prices and whatnot. It's pretty easy to use and check out some listings similar to what you are selling for listing ideas and see what it goes for

I'll explain it to you the best I can, lol.
Okay, first of all, whatever you list there is a listing fee. I don't have the chart right in front of me, but if you list your item for 0-10 dollars, there is a 35 cent listing fee. 10-99 dollars i think is 70 cents, etc. Then there is a final value fee, which i do believe is 5%, dont quote me on that. So say you list whatever, any item for 5.00. You would have to pay the 35 cents, regardless if it sells or not. Ok, then lets say your item actually sells for 10.00. Then you pay a final value fee of 50 cents. So out of that 10.00, you paid 50 and 35 cents, which is 85 cents, so you really made 9.15 off of it. Then shipping is totally seperate. You have to make sure you know how much the shipping is going to cost before you list your item, but aside from your auction price, you set a shipping price, and the buyer has to pay that also. Most people on ebay also use Paypal....which also charges a fee to sellers that use their service, I'm really not sure about the percent on that, but I can tell you that I sold an outfit the other day for 8.85, and 4.05 shipping, out of that 8.85, i only kept 5.65 of it.

You can go on ebay's site for specific amounts, but they do charge "listing fees"...the amount depends on the value of your item. If it sells, they also get a small percentage of the sale.
As far as shipping goes, you tell the person buying from you the shipping cost and they pay that to you.
Ebay requires a credit card to sign up and they deduct their fees by charging your card.
I've been selling on ebay since 1996. Overall, it is safe if you are smart. Never ship an item until you've been paid first and MORE IMPORTANTLY, if you get an email from ebay or paypal asking you to log in from a link in the email because of a probelm in you account, don't do it. Go directly to the website and log in from there. Many emails that say your account is suspended are scams, just delete them.
But overall, like I said, if you are smart about those things, ebay's safe :)

There are fees to list things, but they are normally pretty low. Forego the extras like bold listing and extra pictures(unless real important to your item) and make sure your starting price will cover your fees. Also, paypal does charge fees, but it is the safest way to do it. Set up your paypal account before you start listing!!
I(and many others) will not bid on anything listed by someone with no feed back, so it is best to buy a few items before trying to sell. Also check the prices on similar items, and see if you can list yours a little cheaper, or if your item price is the same or higher, maybe you can charge less for shipping. Also, be pretty sure of your shipping price, and don't forget to charge for delivery conformation, it is like a dollar, but could save you a huge headache if you happen to get one of the few dishonest people!
Also be specific about your payment time limits, people will try to stretch that to the limit!!(had one woman take 25 days to pay me, then left me a negative because I shipped it two days after I got her money!)
Mostly, it is fun, but you can make money. But, if the intent is to make money, you must really treat it like a business.
Oh, yeah, like Christine said DO NOT trust any e-mail that claims to be from e-bay or paypal that ask you to click a link to go to the site! Neither will ever do this. I've received really official looking "bills" from both, but they were all scams.

The main trick to be successful on ebay is to buy at very low price from wholesaler and sell at competitive price in ebay.As far as shipping goes, you tell the person buying from you the shipping cost and they pay that to you.
Check the website below to find the wholesale source where they give up to 90% off retail price. That way you can really make profit
