Definitely Crete. Unique Crete. It's big, it has a tradition (in music, clothing - not that you'll see a lot of people wearing traditional - food and drinks), it's the birthplace of the Minoan civilization which preceded classic Greece, it has the most amazing shoreline with beautiful, beautiful bays, it has lovely cities such as Chania and Rethimno, and much, much more. Love it!

As has become apparent from the answers so far there is really no such thing as a favorite island. There are about 3000 islands to chose from and each one has something to offer. The choice is very personal and depends on your moods and expectations. There is something for everybody. covering extremes. If you want total insanity and party animalism Mykonos is the place. If you want archeology and you have time on your hands Try Crete. For seclusion and peace Folegandros. If you are after awesome Santorini.
Ask your question including what you would like or expect and you will get more specific answers

Rhodes!!!!!!!! I love this island! I've been there 3 times and I'm going this summer as well. I felt in love in this place from the first sight. I spent a lot of time on this island- more than 6 months in total! If you decide to go you have to visit: Butterflies Valley, Prasonisi (it's a beach where two seas meet), Rhodes town, Lindos!
Anyway, have a nice holidays.

Crete is a great suggestion - mainly due to the size. Santorini and Mykonos are really touristy and if you want to party with a bunch or EuroTrash, hit the clubs there.
There are so many beautiful islands and then there are those to party on...like Paros.
Ikaria is my favorite...best of both worlds - but small enough to not have to deal with many crowds. Don't miss Na on the end of the island.

go to the library and check out a guide book. I like fodors because they have a 3 day plan to a seven day plan. GET several so you can compare, then when you have a good basic knowledge, check out a travel video of Greece. After you have done your homework and narrowed it down, go to www.tripadvisor.com and go to the forems of the places you think you might like to visit and see what fellow travelers have to say about the area.
Just make sure you have a day or two to spend in Athens you Have to go to the Acropolis!
Greece is so awesome you will just love it no matter where you decide to go. But people have different likes and dislikes and I love Delos and Delphi, you might hate the ruins and want something more trendy like Mikonos or Santorini. ( I love those too.) so research will open your eyes to all the possibilities that are Greece. You Will Love IT!

I love any Greek island. The Greeks are so warm and friendly, have been to many islands over the years, the past 5 years have been Zakynthos 4 times and last year Crete,we are going to Crete again this year, there is so much to see and do,my husband walked the Samaria Gorge last year and will do it again this year. I have honestly found that wherever one goes there is always something for all ages to do and with such a friendly nation,a great holiday is always guaranteed. Have a great holiday wherever you go in Greece,

If you can afford it go to Mykonos (very picturesque, super beaches, great nightlife). If you want more culture and activities, try Rhodes, or Creta, or Lesbos - you will need to rent a car of a scooter, these are big islands, but since the tourist infrastrure is good, you will get better value for money . If you want something very simple, with very friendly locals, Antiparos would be a good and cheap choice. I also stronly recommend Kefallonia, Kythira and Amorgos.

There are over 3000 Greek islands and some 185 they say are inhabited. I have seen many of them sailing the last 15 years.
Each one has its beauties and it is hard to recommend any one of them without knowing what kind of vacation you prefer. Generally, you can't miss.

OMG you only have 10 days to go to greece!? You can't really see a lot in 10 days. I stayed there for 3 months because we have a house up there. I would suggest kefalonia, syros, tinos, they are all beautiful you can't decide lol.
