You would know if you need it. If you wouldn't use it REGULARLY, save the money on the drive and on gas and get a 2WD.

I'd definitely get a 4WD, but that's me. I just like to drive where people normally don't - like through shallow river beds, up unpaved mountain roads, and snow.
4WD will eat up a little more gas when it's on, and there are additional parts that can break down.
If you have any sense of adventure in you, a 4WD will open up exciting possibilities. Otherwise, save your money.

Well I wouldn't really recommend 4wd, especially since you'll probably never use it and forsake untold gallons of gas that way. Even if you take occasional trips to snowy areas, your truck's ground clearance and your skill level will compensate for a lack of 4wd.
Trust me, with fuel prices these days, go for the 2wd.

Since you would only use 4WD for sporadic recreation, I would recommend you save your money with 2WD.
