I know it it used to be quite a problem spot a few years ago and wonder if they have cleaned it up at all.

I was there in May and December, and am happy to report that Fremont Street is still going strong - no problems at all, and more entertaining than ever with all the sidewalk entertainers!

Make sure that you pay a visit to the Golden Gate Hotel for their "world famous" 99 cent shrimp cocktail.

Enjoy!

I agree with the other people that answered ... I've never had a problem on Fremont Street. It's enjoyable downtown and you can easily walk from casino to casino. Security is plentiful and as long as you stay in the area where the casino's are located, there shouldn't be a problem.

It is still pretty gross! Lots of homeless, lots of rednecks, lots of low lifes. The 'cheap food' is inedible, the service is surley, and the light show is a joke. Save yourself a total bummer and don't bother going to fremont st.

freemont st. is a still an enjoyable experience its actually a better set-up than the strip becasue there is no traffic to concern your self with and the beer is much cheaper, as for the strip i really enjoy spending time at ohsea's for their 18 hour happy hour
