One thing nobody has mentioned yet is size.
A bearded dragon can get to a foot or 2 long, while a ball python can grow up to 8-9 feet, while 6 feet seems to be the average.
The Dragon is going to need a larger cage to move around in, while the python likes to feel secluded when not actively seeking food.
Both require lots of care, you should do alot of reasearch into lighting, heating, vitamans, and other items you'll need to buy before you get your pet.
Giving your pet good care requires more than buying a cage and a heating lamp and throwing it in there. As other people mentioned too, the amount of time you have to care for your pet should also be a factor.
Now, you don't have to buy your pet the best of everything. But they require some basics to stay healthy.
Do your reasearch and you should be fine. Good luck.

Depends on your experience level but I think Ball Pythons are much easier to care for then Bearded Dragons.

You should do a good amount of research online for both and weigh the pros and cons. There are many differences between the 2 and the amount of time that needs to be invested in the general care and also ask yourself what YOU are wanting out of a reptile for a pet. I posted links to a Bearded Dragon Forum and a Ball Python Forum below.

You Decide,
A)Ball Python-
Pros-
1. Eats mice which can be frozen (less messy than a gang of crickets)
2. Doesn't require expensive lighting (Spectrum or Heat bulbs) as it prefers under tank heating (Also cheaper on your electric bill)
3. Really Cool
4. Eats less frequently (You can shop once a year for his food.)
Cons-
1. .......I can't really think of any. Sometimes they go off food for some time, but this will just scare you, not a problem for him.
Bearded Dragon-
Pros-
1. Very cool.
2. Maybe a little more personable- kinda' puppy like, as they are social animals.
3. They never miss a meal! It's up do you to not over feed them.
Cons-
1. Crickets. I can't stand them. They get everywhere, they die on you and stink, expensive over time. (Though I believe most owners don't feed beardies enough veg. and too many crickets anyway.)
2. For your beardie's health and mental state, you really need to spend some money on the right lighting or provide regular access to natural sun.
The main thing is that these are probably two of the very best choices for a beginner. Congrats on your wisdom!!

Well it really depends on you a ball python is one of the smaller python species and is relatively cheap to purchase and to care for. they are generally pretty docile but can bite and inflict a pretty nasty bite as an adult. this happens mostly when the snake is threatened or it mistakes your hand for its food. Tehy are not as active most of the time as bearded dragons however.
Bearded dragons are more expensive and require more care but they are smaller and are more active usually. this may not be true for all pythons and bearded dragons though I just speak from my personal experience. They both make a great pet and it really depends on what you want.

I just got 2 baby bearded dragons...I love them. They act like little miniature dogs...lol. They have a lot of personality. As far as a ball python goes it would be a lot less maintenance. Personally my opinion would be to get the beardie. But that's up to you. I have 2 king snakes so I like both types of pets.

Ball Python all the way besause they are very friendly, you ony need to feed them once a week, you can go on vacation without haveing to worry about it dieing or having someone come over to feed it. I have a female ball python and she is the best. You also dont have to worry about going to the store all the time to get crickets and crickets can get away and run all over your house. Hands down go for the ball python!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
