I agree with you 100%. I think that it's very unsanitary for the resteraunt to have a table in front of the bathroom door. In my opinion there should be a little hall that you have to go down to get to the restrooms they should not be in the dining area.

Okay, so devil's advocate here. I generally agree with you - in particular, I would not want to sit there.
My question is this: How far away from the bathroom door do tables need to be, and how do you regulate this?
Small restaurants (sometimes the best) might have difficulty finding seats, if they all have to be a certain distance from the restrooms.
Also, nothing should be coming out of the bathroom that could cause any health problems, so I'm not certain there's actually any justification for the health department working to change the rules.

yeah, you are the customer and the customer is always right. if you have a problem with it then you should have been moved. there should be a divider separating the bathrooms and the dining area.... that way there is no view of the happenings in the bathroom......i would have to wonder about the sanitation of this restaurant. it makes me wonder what else is going on behind the scenes.... like the kitchen!? i think i would not want to eat there at all, regardless of where i was seated. you should never feel "fussy" re: spending your money.... it is your right! without you and other customers they wouldn't have a restaurant. i am very fussy when it comes to eating out... i like to check out the bathrooms for cleanliness before i order. it really shows what kind of an establishment is being run

No not really. I believe that all resturants should place all bathrooms off to the side, out of the way. Next time just be sure and let them know what you would like. If you are paying for a meal you have the right.

How is one suppose to go to the bathroom if the table is infront of the bathroom door? I'm assuming you mean your table was located across from the bathroom door. In that case I would have asked to be seated else where in the resturant.

I don't think you're being fussy. If a waiter tries to sit me next to the bathroom, I always ask politely for another table, and if I have to wait, then thats ok with me.

Just ask to be reseated. Sure, it's not a great seat, so be flexible and offer to wait for a better table. I don't see what the health department would want to say about it, as long as there's a door on the restroom.
