Our athletes have to cheat to win. Business and political leaders are corrupt. Movie stars are immoral. Rock stars are a wreck. Teachers and priests make sexual prey of their students. Even the All American cowboy was recently portrayed as gay. Now one of our space age heroes, the astronauts, is found lost in a ridiculous love triangle. Where's the role models?

True. The ones that are portrayed in the media are slimy...
But, we must find our own role models - the ones that are true to themselves, true to God, and true to those around them.
I agree that society has become very immoral. It's disgusting.

That is probably true not only in America but all over the world. In India too we have a lot of athletes strangled in doping rows. Our politics has degenerated to foul play and our scientific community has almost gone to sleep. But every cloud has a silver lining. We have excellent entrepreneurs coming up from all sections of the society. Hope the next generation can have some role models.

I think so. I mean, there aren't any real role models for kids these days. Both parents work, so they are relying on a society that is going to he**. Teachers who have sex with their students, sickos who kidnap young kids, kids who can get guns quicker than the police.....America is off the chain. We are becoming more wild than civilized. Kids do not have the mannerisms they should. Some parents outright state that they do not want their kids saying "Sir" or "Ma'am" to people because that would make them less a person....Crazy, I always thought they were better people to recognize their elders.....or at least that is what I was taught.
Anyway, YES, role models are out. (Look at no-underwear wearing Britney Spears...what kind of role model is she?)

Sounds to me like they are doing a great job for you. Now you know exactly how not to lead your life. The reason the media highlights the negative stuff in your country is that it sells. It sells because the majority are focussed on it. They are focussed on it because they are programmed to feel guilty and don't like how that feels. So they point the finger to others and make a lot of noise, called judging, so they will escape others noticing their guilt and therefore stay alive. Self-preservation. Birds of a feather flock together. Your Being attracts your life and that means what you notice. Start being the role model you are looking for for a start, one who is happy and serve as the best example you can imagine. Joy!

that movie with the cowboys, good movie i thought for 2 straight men. but rock stars they rock but they are all druggies or alcoholics, not much to expect from them. priests? i never knew. you make a good case.. (i thought the britney spears comment was funny)

What is this role model stuff anyway? Being a role model assumes that one person has some moral obligation to a bunch of empty headed, chubby kids.
We had your 'role models' until they were identified as role models. What happened to them is that when it became an obligation to live their lives for other people, they rebelled. who can blame them.

sadly, i think we have. in just about every arena, sports, politics, acting, business, religion, etc., problems and issues have recenlt occurred to blur our respect for the participants in that field.
however, i do blieve that with 9/11, our new heros are our policemen and firemen. they're not all perfect, byt they provide an enormous service for the people of this great nation.
