Come on, Joel, we can 't do eveything for you guys. This small little task we think you can handle. We will, of course, continue to handle all the big ticket items. By the way, that hand towel is there for a reason.. After you put the seat down, please use it before you come groping around.

If this is such a problem why don't you invent a toilet seat that has to be placed down, then women the world round can start having to put it down every time they use it. However if and when you ever need to take a seat which by the sound of it you don't you may actually have to touch it. This seems to be what the issue is, that you think you are to good to have to place your hand on a toilet seat.

Because unless men have been drinking beer, women have smaller bladders. Therefore, we have to go more often. So even if we were the last one to use the toilet in a place occupied by equal numbers of males & females, chances are better that the next person to use the toilet will be a woman who needs the seat down.

I can think of a few reasons....
*1 - when its up we can see the edge of the bowl which you've dribbled on and which WE have to clean up
*2 - as another poster said, knowing that, even if you've not managed to dribble on it, we dont wanna touch it!
*3 - it's more aesthetically pleasing to have the seat down rather than look at a china bowl
*4 - if you're a male living alone, fine...leave it up and look at your own dribble...but if not, how hard is it to just flip the seat down knowing that it causes so much less hassle for ANY woman who ventures in there next?
It's a case of what looks good and RESPECT for females.
The putting the lid on the toothpaste argument I can see from a male perspective...it doesn't bother me much.....but the lid on the toilet seat? Guys, just please, show a little of your feminine side.
PS - women ALWAYS have to sit down to pee..unless the toilet seat is so messy we'll do a stand up and over job which we hate. Guys don't have to sit down to pee, but when you have to do the other, you DO actually put the toilet seat down. Think of it that way, why do you put the toilet seat down to have a dump? It's a comfort factor too you know!

There's a simple rule I follow. If the house is mainly male, leave seat up. If it's mainly female, down. But then, there are a few male houses I've been to where I'd never touch the seat unless I had a body suit and gas mask on - but then I wouldn't use the loo there anyway!

You should always put the toilet seat AND lid down when you are done using it.
You close closet doors and cabinets after you get something out of them. You put the top back on the salt container when you are done filling it. When you are done with something, you always close it. Leaving it up is lazyness and uncleanliness.
Also, if you leave it up---when you flush, PARTICLES of your EXCREMENTS travel through the air for 6 feet and land on the things in the room including your toothbrush. Nasty!

because if you get up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet, without turning the light on, your not likely to fall into it if we leave the seat up!
anyway, the whole thing should be left closed (seat and lid). otherwise, what is the lid for? it is much neater and looks better if the lid is down.

Good point. Though, a man usually faces the toilet when they go and women usually just sit down. So, I think it's more inconvient for the woman than it is for the man whether the seat is up/down. Therefore, the owness falls on the man for that reason alone??? Just a theory....I always look before sitting due to some bad experiences!!!

I don't mind the toilet seat being left up as much as I mind pee on the seat

"Moaning?"
Why do people with a minimal amount of common courtesy find it offensive to see people spit and in the street?
Why is it NOT acceptable to belch loudly, pee in the street, pull out our privates for a good scratch?
We are not animals, we are civilized people. That is why we have social norms. If you want to be a cave man then you must also give up some of your comforts and sleep on a stone slab.
Do you have a problem with common courtesy? Or at the very least is it hard for you to like women? Then stay away from them and act like a jerk on your own time.
