I've been put on the birth control pill Low-Ogestrel for chronic UTI my doctor thinks is related to my hormones on my cycle. Well, I've been on for 2 weeks and 3 days, and I've had very bad dizzy spells accompanied by shortness of breath. I even went to the hospital, because there's a history of clots in my family.

After several blood tests, a V-Q scan, and chest x-rays, we found no clot, and no explanation.

My question: Has anyone else experienced this on the pill?

Oh, also... I am 15, and I understand about the staying on the pill for at last six weeks :)

It's more of, I've missed school twice from this, once when I went to the hospital (my doctor who prescribed the pill sent me, knowing my history), and once today. I ended up coming in 6th period, and I need to be in before that.

Not personally, but it is by no means uncommon, especially the dizzy spells. The shortness of breath thing makes me wonder about an allergy. You did the right thing by seeking medical attention for your side effects, though... have you informed the doc who prescribed the pill to you about them? Because if not, definitely do that. They can give you better advice than us.

In my experience, doctors usually want women suffering from negative side effects to stay on the pill for about six weeks, since problems will often subside by then. Obviously if it becomes intolerable, call up your doc and tell him you want to stop, but you may want to try sticking it out if you can.

I kinda feel like that too. I've been on Yasmin for about 6 months now, and i used to be really fit, and i could jog and stuff. but now, i jog for like 2 minutes and i can barely breathe walking up the hill to the bus stop makes me short of breath, which would never have hapened before. I've also gained like 10 pound (which for me is really noticeable), and i have like random pains which i'm pretty sure i never had before. and my vagina really hurts sometimes. I'm pretty sure it's the pill, but i don't think it's that serious. Do you think i should talk to my doctor about that? (now that i'm thinking of it) And i'm sorry for answering your answer with a question. okay, for you i suggest you either read the little booklet thing that comes with the pill and read the common side effects. If shortness of breath is not there, i suggest you call you're doctor. he can give you the best information :) Hope I helped!

Yeah, I had to switch pills but it only happened after almost 3 years on tri-cyclen- which by the way does not work- I was just lucky enough not to be having sex then- I was only on it to control periods since I was young.
Anyway, after almost 3 years I started having really bad side effects so switched to alesse and no problems since!

I've never heard of that pill nor have I heard of using birth control to control UTI's. If that were the case I'd never get them but I do.
