No it has nothing to do with metal, its just an wasy scape goat that people like to point the finger at. If you actually listened to or read some of Manson's interviews he is a very intelectual person who is against, alot of senseless violence, and corruption we see in todays society.
There are alot of other factors that you need to take in to account.
Was the kid involved in drugs (not pot, but hard core drugs)
Was this kid a social outcast
Was this kid mentaly unstable
Did something tramatic just happen to this boy
Alot of other things could have influenced this kid to do that, not heavy metal. The same thing happen when Colombine happend people tried to blame Marlyn Manson for those kids doing that.
I myself grew up listening to heavy metal and hardcore. I am currently a Concious Objector (belief that the taking in anothers life is wrong) It just depends on a persons own morales it has nothin to do with music.

Most of these kids already had the aggression within them and were not trained in controlling their thoughts or behavior. Without proper control it was just a matter of time before a major mental eruption to occur in his life. People are so quick to blame music, media, and the like because they don't want to admit that the child may have some sort of mental disorder. Personally, I think violent music and movies serve as an outlet to our own inner problems and anxiety in life.

The cause and effect loops are generally backwards in these types of situations. You could also say that kids who tie up and murder their girlfriends sometimes listen to Marlyn Manson and other violent music.
They tried to do the same thing to Ozzy in the 80s, with a song he did called 'the suicide solution', they tried to prove that 2 kids that killed themselves did so because of Ozzy.

I love heavy metal music, and I am a born again Christian.
Even though I do truly despise Marilyn Manson, it is not his fault that this 14 year old boy committed murder. People are always looking for excuses for their unspeakable behavior, but the reality is that we must be responsible for our own actions. Music doesn't "cause" people to do terrible things- we have free will, and therefore, we have to be held accountable for our choices.

Oh it definitely had to be because of the music, no doubt, it surely couldn't have been because he was just plain psycho! How do you explain ALL the people who have heard the same music and DON'T tie their girlfriends to trees and stab them? People are just looking for excuses instead of taking responsibility for their behavior

There is no proof behind that theory....
How do you explain all of the murder and killing before this music then?
Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Chairman Mao all only listened to Classical music and yet they are responsible for the most genocide in world history....

I think people blame others like Marylin Manson for these tragedies because it is much easier than looking inward. I don't think music drives people to commit these types of acts.

No, it's just easier to blame it on an outside source than face the fact that there are monsters among us.
