This site www.ceao.us has a certification like a CPA only for private accountants. Has anyone else been certified as a CEA yet?

Well, I have to say that the deafening silence on your question probably gives you a hint. No, the CEA certification is brand spanking new, created in 2006. It is not widely known, even for people like me who are in the finance and accounting business.

I don't mean to be a downer on this certification. It appears that you do need a pretty deep experience base to be eligible. However, I am wondering why anyone would need it. It just says that you are experienced enough to have done lots of accounting but never went through public accounting (or didn't get enough hours to get certified).

Just ask yourself, would my company or any other company recognize this certificate or would they see that I've already had over eight years of accounting to know that I am a very senior accountant. I think this is putting a label on something that is pretty obvious. If you've got that much experience, I wouldn't worry about having to market yourself.
