Because they get all the attention. Just like if a newscaster has a choice between a happy story, or a psycho who met women online and killed them, you know which one they go with!
We had to secure the outer perimeter for the Oklahoma City bomibng that Tim McVeigh did and we caught journalists trying to steal firemen's bunker gear to sneak into the site... What losers!

Because they're stupid.
Because the media in our society has inflated the issue of those criminals being online on places like this and myspace and other areas and use it to instill fear into people. Fear is a good weapon but you'd think common sense and proper monitoring and being careful would be better to protect yourself and your kids.
All this fear to shut down or constantly censor all these online chat services when all we have to do is be more careful.
Like i said ..theyre just dumb.

it's probably paronia caused by the media. every story that is told about someone being online is only of pedophiles, rapists, serial killers. the news is almost always filled with negative things, making everyone afraid of the world around them.

I think its because the media really makes it sound like it with all the cases they report about pepiphiles and such. I dont think most people online are but I do have a few friends who do and always get mad at me for talking to people online. Oh well theyre just trying to look out for me so it doesnt bother me to much.

Because the internet is still relatively new, and alot of people are still ignorant of the possibilities, so they're scared.
When I tell people I met my fiance online, they act like I walked through the Forbidden Forest to find love. LOL

People love negative stories and not normal everyday stuff. If you report enough of this stuff it forms an assumption with the unaware people that we are all a bunch of psychos for interacting in this way
