Ok, I would like to avoid the knee jerk name calling so I will be careful with my wording...and my grammar for those that find it important.
I have heard numerous comments that the loud in your face, drug using, multiple partner, casual sex in the mens room type of gays are not truly indicative of the gay community.
I have heard that most gays just want to be left alone in peace to live as they wish.
So my question is...which is truly the majority?
Is the majority the peaceful monogamous gays with house and 21/2 cars that just want to live in peace?
Or is the majority of gay community the stigma that I have already described?
What are your thoughts on this subject?

I am not making any statements about the gay community but rather commenting about the public persona that many in society see. Please try to stick to the topic and answer the question. Everyone knows that heteros also party and do drugs. That is not what I am asking. Please try to raise above the word game or read any other statement into the question besides the actual question.
I am asking which do you think as a gay person in the community do you think is the majority?
The mind your own types are not going to be so visible.

Spider...thank you for such an enlightening and non offensive answer.
How you can relate two unrelated things, or find my question an attack is beyond me but to each his own.
Live and let live there buddy. Peace!

Since you asked so nicely, I will endeavour to respond in kind.

Although you are correct, there is a perception of gay men being drugged up and promiscuous, I can assure you it is not the majority nor is it as common as it may appear at first blush. The optics are like this, if you go to a city and drive by a regular nightclub Gay or Straight, you will see what you would expect, people inside, drinking, carousing, doing drugs, etc. Now, to put your question in perspective, the Straight crowd is just a noisy, drugged up and promiscuous, but because of the larger number in society, the effect or rather the optics aren't as pronounced. Now, Gays being a smaller population, but like straights having their own share of carousers and add to this they tend to group in one area ie: gay village, gay part of town, the optics create a distortion. Gays appear to be as you described.

The reality is much different. Most gays do actually tend to be homebodies, oh, to be sure in their youth they caroused as I'm sure you did or do (don't know your age). The point is, young people, gay or straight will sow their wild oats, it's just the way it is. Gays are no more pre-disposed to drugs or alcohol then any other group, but because those that do tend to be out more, it creates that impression.

We can't tell which is the majority because there is no real evidence or accounting for just how many gays there are, total, none the less how many fit into which "profiles"

Personally I think there are people living in sexless, asexual, closeted-gay, and bi-sexual (but leaning towards gay) lifestyles, that but for the societal stigma of being gay would be living openly gay lifestyles. I think the number of people living like this is very high, and that if they were out, and gay, we would have a better understanding of what being gay means, and what types of gays there are (the flamer, the metro, the butch, etc).

Are gay human beings being portrayed in a unfavorable mild, or do you in basic terms see what makes you mushy? "If the unfavorable public photograph of casual intercourse, drug use, and severe danger promiscuity is an innaccurate view on genuine gay existence then why does the meant majority of repectable gays enable a minority to soil your public photograph???" My own opinion on the subject is that a unfavorable representation of homosexuality / gay existence form is greater effective than no representation. whether that's consistently interior the information it makes it greater good to comb decrease than the carpet would not it?

Well, I am the quiet monogamous type, however I have 1 car, 1 truck, 2 cats and a mortgage. My boyfriend of 3 years has 1 car and an apartment, he cannot have pets, although his landlady has a dog named Cybil.

Its a complicated toss up of both. Just as in heterosexual society. You have your straight couples with the 2.5 kids, nice house and careers. Then you have your straight people who live to party hard, abuse drugs, and spread their legs or drop their pants for anything with a pulse. It goes the same across the board. I myself am in a 100% committed relationship with my girlfriend of 2 years, dont do much partying unless its the weekend, have a great job but looking to further my education & continue building my life with her.

Obviously, the majority of any group is never the exaggerated stereotype. The stereotype is true some of the time, but it is not usually true. But unfortunately, the exaggerated sterotype makes better TV and better jokes.

The fact is, most folks lead fairly quiet and relatively boring lives, and whether they are gay or straight, nobody wants other people interfering in their lives.

My husband and I live a peaceful life with a house, 2 cars, 3 kids, 1 pet. Most of our homosexual friends are living in similar situations.
As to the other type of lifestyle you listed, I think the following may sound familiar to you as it is similar to your response to another question.
It is called Free Will.
Do you have any other attacks at homosexuality that you wish to thinly veil in the form of a question?

btw, there are many heterosexuals who also live in your face, drug using, multiple partner, casual sex type lifestyles...apparently many of these people being supposed Christian leaders.

"loud in your face, drug using, multiple partner, casual sex in the" bathroom type.

People that are Gay and people that are Straight do it. I'm straight and have a lot of friends that are Gay and my college is in a "Gay" community. I guess it depends who u are around and what u expose yourself to.

Do you value your privacy? If you do, then what does it matter? Here's something for you to think about. If Adam was made from dust and Eve was made from the rib of Adam, then there is no such thing as Gay because we are all MEN in some form. Or, put another way, we're all GAY! Perhaps the women who give birth are suffering their pennance for the original sin at God's hands and those who are Gay were not tempted to eat from the Tree of Knowledge. I don't know. Only God does. What I do know is that God doesn't turn away any of his creations, even the sinners.
