First off, you've got a VERY cute baby in there!! Thanks for sharing HIS pictures with us all.
Yes, I have 4 boys and THAT IS VERY CLEARLY A BOY.
Fetal heart rate has nothing to do with gender. Your doc is just guessing and you're going to be able to prove him wrong in the delivery room.
That is a great shot of his "parts". There are many women who don't get a pic that shows it so well.
Trust me, after only seeing a bunch of little boy ultrasounds, I KNOW what i'm looking at.
Paint the room blue mama!!!

The ultrasound techs are trained to look at those pictures , its a superstition that you can tell by the heartrate but not really a reliable indicator. Of course there is some chance that the ultrasound could be wrong (about 50% haha) but they are right more often than they are wrong. you will probably get another ultrasound in a couple of months and will be able to tell for sure or you could go get a 3D ultrasound (although they can be a bit costly like $130) which will give you a definite answer. I am trying to hold out as long as i can on my ultrasound so i can be a little more sure of what i am seeing.
Congratulations

duh i forgot to look at the picture.. totally looks like my ultrasound from my last pregnancy,

It's a boy, congrats. You can see that clearly from the 4th picture. If it were a girl, there would be 3 lines instead.

The heartrate thing is just an old wives tale. It's right about 50% of the time.

Just a little safety tip - you should edit out your personal information and dr. office info from your sonogram before you post it on the internet. People are just big nut jobs and you can't be too careful!

You definitely have a boy on the way! I can't remember if it was an ultrasound tech that said this, or the OB/Gyn.... but it was something to the effect of "Boys look like turtles & girls look like hamburgers". Kindof an odd analagy, but a pretty accurate one! Heartrate has nothing to do with the sex... if that were the case, all three of my daughters would have been boys! ;)

Congratulations, you may now surround your world in blue!

That ultrasound certainly looks like a boy to me. Although u/s images can be misread, it is certainly not correct to say that the sex prediction is wrong as often as it is right. They're usually right, particularly when they're this distinct. Your doctor should know by this point that heartrate is not a good indicator of sex.

Based on my heartrate in utero, the doc suspected I was a boy. He was wrong, clearly. That was 28 years ago, and the technology is *slightly* more advanced now.

I'd say it's a boy. The round part is the scrotum/testicles, and the thing that looks like a turtle head is the penis. My ultrasound tech always says the turtle is a boy and the 3 lines like = are a girl. The 3 lines are the labia and clitoris on a girl. Yours looks exactly like a turtle (boy). I have 2 of each so trust me, I know. Mine were always right.

If in the ultra sound they showed it was a boy by looking at his penis it is a boy if not yes they have been wrong lots of times. The heartbeat on all 4 of my girls was fast and my 1 boy was a slow strong heartbeat so if you want to be sure get another ultra sound otherwise just wait till it is born. Congrats either way.

Going by heartrate is just an oldwives tale, it means nothing. He is right, though, that ultrasounds are never 100% accurate. It LOOKS like a boy, and probably is, but you won't know for sure until he's born.

Looks like a boy to me. We're having a little girl and that definitely looks nothing like her ultrasound picture from the same angle.

I defintley think it is a boy, my son's ultrasound looks similar to yours. I know when the ultrasound is a girl there are three lines present, maybe that is what is confusing the doctors??? But I am pretty sure it is a boy. Congrats!!!
