C-Yogi Berra because he's a great player and has a good attitude with the best quotes.
1B-Lou Gehrig because he could hit home runs as good as anyone and he was an ironman.
2B-Joe Morgan because he could do it all plus he has great baseball mind.2 MVPS, Gold Gloves and he had playof success with almost every team he played for.He could rack up RBIs and steal bases. He is also a 10 time all star. Some say he is the best hitter of all time.
3B-Mike Schmidt because he had the fielding skills of brooks Robinson and the power of Eddie Matthews. He has 10 Gold Gloves, three MVPs and has over 500 home runs. Also a 12 time all star.
SS-Honus Wagner because he was an all around guy(except home runs).he could run, field, and be clutch outpalying Ty Cobb in the world series. He could play any position including pitcher and is one of the best playera in history.
LF-Ted Williams because he can hit better than anyone in my opinion. He hit .400 one time and gave up the best years of his life to fight in the war.(Also never throw it low to him low if you value your life lol.)
CF-Mickey Mantle because he it more than 500 home runs and appeared in 12 world series he won 3 MVPs and his charisma captured a generation of fans. He is also the best switch-hitter of all time.
RF-Hank Aaron because if I had to choose between him and the babe(which I just did) he comes up on top because he wasn't a alcoholic and he has more home runs than the babe.Hank hold the record for most home runs and RBIs. He won an MVP in the same season he won his world series title.

I'd pick

SS- Cal Ripken Jr.
3B- Wade Boggs
LF- Ted Williams
CF- Willie Mays
RF- Babe Ruth

C - Johnny Bench
1B - Lou Gehrig
2B - Pete Rose
SS - Ernie Banks
3B - Eddie Matthews
OF- Ted Williams
OF - Hank Aaron
OF - Babe Ruth

That leave a lot of great players off the list. Rose had more hits than any player in history, Aaron has more home runs (without steroids), Ted Williams hit over 0.400 in a season, and Babe Ruth had 714 HR and 94 wins as a pitcher to boot. I thought they all had to be there.

I've answered this question before but a quick list based on ability and popularity:

C: Yogi Berra / Johnny Bench
1B: Lou Gehrig / Willie McCovey
2B: Rogers Hornsby / Ryne Sandburg
SS: Honus Wagner / Ozzie Smith
3B: Frank "Homerun" Baker / Mike Schmidt
LF: Stan Musial / Ted Williams
CF: Ty Cobb / Willie Mays / Mickey Mantle
RF: Joe Jackson / Roberto Clemente

Honorable mentions to: Frank Robinson, Chuck Klein, Al Simmons, Jimmie Foxx, Eddie Mathews, and about 20 others I ain't got time to write down - have to get back to work!

C - Yogi Berra
1B - Albert Pujols
2B - Rogers Hornsby
3B - Mike Schmidt
SS - Honus Wagner or Ozzie Smith
OF - Babe Ruth
OF - Willie Mays
OF - Henry Aaron

If I have to divvy up the outfield by left, center, and right, it gets a whole lot tougher. I guess I'd have to drop Aaron and add Ted Williams and, of course, a very good argument could be made for Ty Cobb in the outfield, as well.

All good answers, here is mine:

C Yogi Berra
1B Lou Gehrig
2B Eddie Collins
3B Mike Schmidt
SS Honus Wagner
LF Stan Musial
CF Joe Dimaggio
RF Babe Ruth

To make my team, you have to have played for a world champion. I want someone who knows what it takes to get there and performs at that level. Berra over Bench because Berra was the heart of the Yankee teams that won so often in the 50's. Collins retired with tons of World series records. Wagner was the best player in his day, and out-performed Cobb in the world series in which they faced each other. Dimaggio's team was in the world series nearly every year he played. Apologies to so many others, and I have no huge arguments with the other answers. And I don't feel like I can rate the ***** league stars fairly, I don't doubt that there were several who belong here.
