re-boot your pc and try to connect
if that fails
switch off the router for a couple of mins then try again
if all this fails after several attempt - you need to prove it is not a web site error - you probably need to think about getting another router

Search through your router manual. There should be a website to go to (such as an ip address{10.?.?.??) that you can configure your router. You should make sure the options in this are set correctly. After you do this, you will want to check the wireless settings on your computer, verses you fathers settings. You should make these the same, then you will at least rule out many of the most common possibilities.....

**Edited note by strayinma:**

After reading your note I would check your router's settings. You may not see your connection in the list if you have been removed from the allowed Mac addresses for your router.

Log into your router's web address and add yourself back to the list. You can find your mac address by going to start>run. Type "cmd" and in the command window type "ipconfig /all"

Enter the numbers/letter combo following "Physical addres" it is 12 digits long usually set up like: 00-04-23-88-ca-a2

Enter this number in your router's settings and click save.

Origianal answer
Have your IP address settings or router settings changed?

Open Network Connections under Control Panel and make sure that the Adapter is still enabled. Right click on the icon (Wirelss or Local Area Connection and select "Enable" if it is an option. If it's not an option, it is already enabed.)

Situation 1: Check your computer for conflicting programs.

Do you have two wireless prorams competing to manage your wireless connection, like Microsoft installed versus one by Intel PROset or Belkin wireless, etc. You might recognize your specific wireless adapter make by name in the list of programs at the start button.

If you determine that there's no conflict, perhaps someone unknowingly reset the router and your mac address could have been lost from the permissions list. You have to add it back to regain network access through the router.

Get your dad to login to the router. (ex http://192.168.1.1) Make sure your mac addres is still listed. If it is missing, have him add it to the list of mac addresses under the advanced tab.

Save, restart and try to reconnect to the network.

Situation 2 - you might be sharing IP addresses with another computer on the network; or your IP / network settings may not be completely right.

If you have Windows 98/NT/XP/etc., go to the Start button, hit Run...

Type "cmd" and at the prompt type "ipconfig /all".

This will display the current network settings, as you probably already know.

Run the same "cmd" on your dad's machine and see if his machine has different results. First note what is different and try to mimic his settings on your own machine.

You should note the following lines of information:
IP Address
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway
DNS Server (list all that appear).

Go back to your own machine and Open Network Connections.

Right click on the desired connection (Wireless/Lan/etc)

Choose Properties.

In the General tab under "This conection usues the folowing items" select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

Click the Properties button under that select box.

Your IP settings may already be selected as "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" and "Obtain DNS server addresses automatically.

Change the setting to "Use the following IP/DNS server addresses:"

If your information is exactly the same and you still can't connect, you can manually configure your connection to give yourself a unique ip address like this:

Enter into the following fields:
IP Address From your dad's IP address, change the last number. For example, if his IP address is 192.168.1.136, change yours to 192.168.1.119.
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: (router IP ex. 192.168.1.1)

Preferred DNS is also unique to your settings. I use 4.2.2.1 for preferred and alternate as 4.2.2.2

Lots of steps. I'd check these for you if I could!

maybe someone else has a quicker answer.

Good luck!
