The planchette can be made out of any material. I've even used a pringles potato chip as one before. The Parker Brothers Oujia board isn't spiritually charged, so its really not about the materials, but about what you're planning to do with them. And remember, the Oujia board is just a tool to open a portal into another dimension, you really don't "need" it... Anyone can contact and speak with spirits, its just the Oujia board "proves" that you're doing it.
good luck and be careful

A planchette is a triangular or heart-shaped board supported by castors which moves to spell out messages, or answer questions. A pencil would be attached to the planchette, printing letters or other designs on paper to be later interpreted by a medium.

The most common use of the planchette is with a Ouija or spirit board. In this instance, it is sometimes referred to as an "indicator" or "pointer"

cut a piece of stiff cardboard into a shape similar to the bottom of an iron, more pointed at the top so it can show the letter it wants you to read. You can cut a circular hole into the top part if you want to read the letter through the hole. Glue marbles or something similar to the bottom corners so it can "float" across the board on them. The less drag the better. Have fun!!

It can be made of any material--so long as it remains steady on a flat surface--one of the cheapest options is to glue 4 rounded buttons ,evenly spaced on the bottom of a spare CD.--:]
