it depends..
there's several busses from Kuantan to Singapore.
-
a direct bus wont follow the coastline.. they use this route
Kuantan-Segamat-Johor Bharu.. its internal road surrounded by palm trees & jungle.

but if u want to travel via coastline, u should take a bus to Mersing. & from mersing take a bus to JB.

I have taken a bus from Singapore to Kuantan last year feb and it does not follow the coastline, but it does pass by housing areas, cheers
