will it shrink. i washed it in the washer, but if i had gone to a dry cleaner would it hav shrunk anyway

No it would not have shrunk. That is the object of "dry" cleaning. I have a friend who makes hats by knitting a "bag" like shape that could cover a small child - she then washes it in hot water and throws it in the dryer. It shrinks tight and comes out looking much like a felt bowler hat. Wool is a funny thing.

No, dry cleaning won't shrink wool -- or any other materials found in a coat. I'm sorry to hear that your coat shrank.
