If a black person was to make a racist remark against someone caucasian, they would be the first ones to get upset.

I think he was such a brilliant actor in Seinfeld. Without being at the club that night and only hearing part of the story and part of the tape, it is really hard to bring him down. If those people were heckling him for quite a while, he had every right to get upset - NOT to the extent that he did, and I'm in no way defending what he said, but I think there is more to the story.

And WHY is it that african american rappers can use the N word so easily and negatively in their "songs". Seems like a double edged sword to me.

i'm white, so take my opinion for what you will, but I think the 'N' word thing first of all is overrated anyway. i like micheal richards, but not a big fan. What's happened with this word is that its gone from being mocked by black comedians to being used in hate terms. its really sad to say that its 2007 and we still associate terms to their hatefull usage against races. i've never used the word in a demeaning manner toward black people. yes, i've said it in a joke, with AND without my black friends (because everyone who's not black tends to say they've just used it around their black friends, which probably isn't true). I'll even go as far as to admit that i've used the term in the car and i'm angry at the a**whole that just cut me off or almost hit me. not because i think he's black, but because he's an ignorant a**whole that cut me off or almost hit me.

and if you think that's wrong, IM me, or email me: donttrustsheep@yahoo.com

my point is, i don't think he used that word out of hate. he used it because the term as now been boiled down to mean ignorant, but unfortunately its still tied to blacks, so unfortunately if someone black is mistreating someone ignorantly, that word is the first thing tied to them. Lets just say richards didn't even say the word around them. i bet when he told the story to his friends, he would have used the word then. and no one would really have blamed him for it. now its in the public eye though in the age where everyone is offended by everything. and i'm not wrong. if it was Eddie Murphy being mistreated or bothered by another ignorant black person would probably said the same thing, but i wouldn't be sitting here writting about it, nor would you have asked the question. it would maybe have hit a by-line in the paper somewhere in the middle of the paper. if it was a couple mexicans, you could be sure a term for them would have been used.

here's why its a big deal............ PEOPLE STILL MAKE THESE WORDS A BIG DEAL. as soon as smart and responsible individuals of each race or creed start putting these words aside and realize that they really mean nothing, then their meanings will die out. but that's never gonna happen realistically. and that's why micheal richards won't be the last celebrity to be in trouble for this.

I'm not going to judge him when I see the same racism every
day and experience it at work, in public, YA, and incorporated into many, if not all our current social programs adopted by our government. When a majority of ordinary people and our government at large can convince me they are not racist, then maybe, I'll accept singling out Michael Richards for crucifixion. At least he apologized.

I used to like Michael Richards. But after I saw the video of him using the "N" word, I have no respect for the man.

Now that the Dems are back in power, mouthing off and making fools of themselves, Richards can relax, because he's not out there by himself (paraphrased from Argus Hamilton).

I still like Richard's comedy.

Paris Hilton said the word n igger and I don't see anyone jumping all over her! Ugh! And she's not even remotely talented!

My opinion has not changed of Michael Richards. He just had a really bad day and who of us has not had that happen to us? He used poor judgement and should not be crucified for one slip-up.

I don't feel any different than I did about him. He lost his temper and went on a rant than many of us could have done ourselves. Funny nobody ever says anything about the men who started the whole thing by heckeling him in the first place! What kind of behavior is that? Kinda represents how lots of blacks act in public don't ya think??? Loud, rude, causing a scene! I can see why it happened! Doesn't mean it's right, but I can sure understand it! If blacks don't want to be called the "N" word, then they should have let it die out and not use it themselves!!!!!!!!

I think he is a man who when the pressure was on, showed like any other non-funny comedian when in doubt get crass, vulgar, obscene or whatever else works.

Furthermore, the only reason why Jerry Seinfield spoke on it was because the Seinfeld DVD was about to hit stores and he did not want this to damage sales, which is why he was slated on Letterman anyway. Not because, he felt like he had to speak out about his colleague's lack of taste and ethics.

How stupid does he think people are?
