Your hormones are affecting your hair. It won't take right until about 8-12 monthes after you stop producing milk. You'll have areas that will take and others won't or in the case of a perm, it'll relax faster than before. I had a perm and it lasted about 6 weeks. It's not worth the money to do anything with your hair right now.

Go to a professional because hair is very porous while pregnant and it may not come out the way you wanted. Don;y knock her for wanting to straighten her hair, pregnant women have the right to still feel pretty. I know there is NO evidence that dyeing your hair after the first trimester is bad. It has nothing to do with fumes it is the idea that some of the dye can get into your bloodstream and there is no clear studies and most doctors say OK. I don't see relaxing as any different

Ask you doc I am sure it is ok

Your scalp absorbs some of the chemicals, where they cross the placenta and end up in your unborn baby. My book said relaxants are not safe for the fetus. Just wait a few more weeks until the baby is born and then do it!

They say nothing should be put on your scalp when you're pregnant. So you can't color or perm but you can have highlights. I don't know about relaxers but if they're done like coloring, I'd say no just wait.

Don't do anything to your hair that is strong like that.

Here's my best idea. buy a good flat iron and straight it by hand.

Colour, perms, relaxers all very strong and have strong fumes which can harm the baby.

I just dyed my hair this morning and the fumes even got to me and made me sick...and I'm not even pregnant!

you can, but due to your hormones it may not take too well. also a few weeks after having the baby, your hair may start to shed, mine fell our by the handful...don't worry its not as bad as it sounds.... but seriously if i were you i would wait, just give it a steam and use some of that soft and free in-between relaxing therapy to just soften your roots.

Be sure to do it in a well ventilated area. I color and relax my hair in every pregnancy. It has done no harm to me nor any of my kids. If you feel that it is harmful, just ask your OB/GYN about it.
