East Coast Swing is a 6 count rhythm while Balboa is 8 count. Also, Balboa is a "body lead" where you are pressed up close and personal to your partner.

I can't think of any movies off hand that shows examples, but if you think of Fred and Barney (Flintstones) dancing with their wives - their feet moving a million miles an hour while their upper torso remains steady - you will have a pretty good idea.

Contemporary music? Anything is a syncopated 8 count rhythm is good for swing. I can't think of anything recent, but "Get Giggy With It" by Will Smith is good for Swing and Charleston.

Zoot Suit Riot is a good East Coast Swing or, better yet, Jive. You can find more music samples here: http://ballroomdancers.com/Music/style.asp
Here is what is normally danced to Zoot Suit Riot song (Jive): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxvQ6yNGIes
sorry I couldn't find a dance to this particular song.

Sorry I don't have good examples of balboa because I only vaguely know what it is. Here is a link from wiki:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balboa_%28dance%29
As far as movies - Grease is full of examples of Swing.
