The part you put the disc into keeps glowing blue while its turned off. I have Internet for it so I think it's updating, but I'm not sure.

Wii Connect24 is working. It does that at least once a day for the weather and news.

It can also mean that you've received "Wii-Mail" from a friend. If you have no idea what I'm talking about... click on the mail icon in the lower right-hand corner of the Wii Menu... then click on Address Book. You can add friends there if you know their console ID.

But the previous Answer is more likely the answer... you've got a message of sort - from Nintendo - indicating some new few feature's been added to the Wii, or an update is available.

It means there is an system update available, or a message from Nintendo. If your Wii is hooked up to the internet, then even when it is off, it communicates regularly with Nintendo to check for updates.

Last night mine was blue. I logged in and in the mail section, found a message from Nintendo urging me to get the new wrist strap.
