I'm about to buy or should I say build a 64-bit computer, but can't run to buying Windows Vista yet, but I already own a copy of XP SP2 which is 32 Bit, could I load this onto my new 64 bit computer? I suppose I could get a cheap copy of XP 64 from somewhere but I want to avoid this.

Hey,

Both Intel cores and AMD Athlon chips will run 32-bit windows. I have an AMD Turion X2 laptop and it runs Windows XP pro just fine. I also have SUSE Linux 10.2 64-bit installed... so as you can see both 32-bit and 64-bit OSes run fine.

I've heard a lot about driver issues with Windows XP Pro 64. Not sure if you want to try that out. Have a look at the link below for more info about 64-bit computing.

With regards to Vista... I'm in no hurry to upgrade. I think I'll wait till a service pack is released.

You can.

I am running it at the moment. I have tested a beta version on Vista and I can say it does run much faster.
