when i switch on it boots up and all the icons come on screen. Then the egg timer thing, then nothing else happens, even after 2 hours.the start menu wont come up. the mouse still moves.
I've pressed ctrl alt delete with no joy, also turned it of by the button,. Can anyone advise?

You might want to start in Safe Mode if possible. Turn off your computer then turn it back on and keep hitting F8 button. A menu should come up that will allow you to load in Safe Mode. If you get in there you could check to see if anything is loading that would be causing conflicts. Possibly, go to Control Panel and use the Add/Remove Programs to see if there is anything in there you should get rid of. You probably have some type of adware crap hosing your system.
If you can get a copy, or download a copy of Adaware by Lavasoft and run this it may clean up anything causing issues. Good luck.
