Thank you for your answers on the first question.
Yes heterosexuals can be celibate also. So my question is if 2 men are refraining from sexual contact with another person how can you define them? wouldn't they just be 2 Celibate Men neither straight or Gay.

A person can refrain from sexual activity but still be sexually attracted to another person...either same or opposite gender.

Nope, though it's a good theory. Even if you refrain from having sex, you still have preferences, right? Think of it this way: two celibate men are together, sitting on a park bench. Neither of them are having sex with anyone, and have sworn to keep it that way. But then a lovely lady walks by, and the first man's head turns. He thinks she's attractive. Now, he won't go have sex with her; he's being celibate, but he's still attracted. A handsome man walks by and the second man has a similar reaction.

Wouldn't you say one of them was a celibate heterosexual and the other a celibate homosexual?

Hope that helps!

How about just leaving it at "2 men"?

Logically you cannot necessarily characterize them as celibate because although they may not be having sex with each other or the person in question, they may be engaging in sex with someone else.

Nor can you necessarily conclude anything about their sexual orientation from the information given. They may just be close platonic friends.

And celibacy involves a voluntary choice to abstain from sex. Just because someone may not be having sex during the time period in question doesn't mean that they have voluntarily chosen to abstain from all sex. They may just not have a suitable partner available to have sex with at that time.

well, when your male significant other heterosexuals you, is that what makes you heterosexual? I'm currently in a same sex relationship, and I get homosexualed pretty often (not to brag) I'm not in favor of homosexualling in public, but I'm against heterosexualling too, at least in public.

Gay is not a verb, it is a state of being. I'm not on my way to an election polling station, but I'm still a liberal democrat.
The same question may be, "can you be a virgin and gay" and of course you can.

Oh for goodness sakes. A person can be a virgin hermit living in a cave never seeing another living soul and be gay, okay?

Note that you are actually asking about CHASTENESS (abstaining from sex) and not CELIBACY (not being married).

You are still gay whether or not you act on those sexual attractions.

If they identify as straight or gay, then they are straight or gay. Sexual orientation isn't dependant on behavior. Many gay youth, for example, idenitify as gay but have not had sex yet.

No, your sexuality isn't about behavior.

Just as is handed-ness.

If you're right handed, but you refrain from writing, you're still right handed.

And why would I want to have a sexless relationship?

My sexual appetite is MY business.

You're just nosey and have a dirty mind.

God knows......

A person is gay because of what is in his head, not what he does.
