They're now trying to pin it on some officers & soldiers & make them the fall guys. But we know it really went to Haliburton, Cheney & friends.

You're right, it was 12.5 billion. I stand corrected.

It was more than that... in total $12 billion sent in American $100 bills. It was supposed to help the Iraqi governement get started - at least that's why they said they sent it - but how would that have happened by sending it in cash:
(1) The American dollar is not the local currency in Iraq,
(2) how would they make change, since it's all in big bills?
(3) why send paper money to a location that is repeatedly getting bombed - paper burns if i recall...

If they really inteneded for the reach Iraq for it's intended reasons, it would have been wired and therefore traceable. It was doomed from the start and the Administration thought they would get away with it, but then the Dems got control and started investigating.

Now they are shaking. So they went to the current Administration's all-encompassing plan B and placed the blame on the little guys.

The money was put into offshore, untraceable accounts of the Bush Administations top supporters and officers.

Probably used to pay informants and others who help us...you are a civilian you do not have the Security Clearance high enough to find this out, just like the reporter who released the information...you are just mad because you can not find out...a question I have what are these Third World countries going to do with the 8 Billion Dollars our great Democratic congress is sending them for AIDS relief or research or what ever the hell they said it was for...maybe do some genocide?

it went to the arms dealers.

The United States remains, for the moment, the most powerful nation in history, but it faces a violent contradiction between its long republican tradition and its more recent imperial ambitions.

The fate of previous democratic empires suggests that such a conflict is unsustainable and will be resolved in one of two ways. Rome attempted to keep its empire and lost its democracy. Britain chose to remain democratic and in the process let go its empire. Intentionally or not, the people of the United States already are well embarked upon the course of non-democratic empire

I'm sure it found it's way into the coffers of the private contractors that rushed to get there for the newest money making opportunity handed to them by our fearless leaders. For that kind of money, they could have just paid people not to fight.!!
The sad part is that they have probably spent more than that, the future education of countless generations of Americans, the health care for many uninsured citizens, and the money to shore up our own collapsing infrastructure.

I think it ended up in the hands of corrupt officials all along the line. One safe bet is that almost none of it did the work it was intended for.
