Lazy?!? Want someone else to do it for them?? I love the kids that instead of googling something for HOMEWORK, they ask it here. It's actually easier to google it.

It could be that some people aren't very good at googling OR don't have the patience. Or both. I say this because I've only had a home computer for about a year now (though I've been using computers at work for years, but obviously can't use it to google for my personal pleasure). In the beginning, I had a hard time finding the things I wanted, used the wrong wording, didn't understand how to narrow my search and so on. With time I've gotten pretty good at it and really enjoy navigating and searching for things. I have answered some questions where the asker as said "I've googled all over and can't find (whatever)" and been awarded BA because I found what they could not. Sometimes it took me some time, but I found exactly what they were looking for. And I have to say that I learned a lot about how to do this properly right here on YA! You will notice that a lot of people that ask here rather than google are Level 1 users.
And, as many have said already, it IS fun to ask questions and get "personal" answers too!

I don't know why, but this is a little more personal as people are actually answering your specific questions rather than having to search for a generic answer.

i think it is because on here it is the personal touch.if someone here gives you a wrong answer then it dont really matter but if you got a wrong one from google etc you would really get annoyed.

maybe people want real life answers..from real life people..some people have questions for people in there exact same situation - right now. where as some web pages are out of date or, out of the book answers. every situation is different and people are asking for help and opinions.

Frogg ... I believe the reasons are they either don't know how or the search terms they use are too vague and yield too many search results.

maybe they want someone to talk to, or maybe they want to double check from the answers someone else gives them, or maybe they like the point system you get on yahoo answers for answering questions
