Well Katie's Spunk or Katie's Boy would sound really good if you wanted a two worded name like you sometimes find with a race horse. You said he was spunky and race horses are deffinately spunky. Another good two word name is Katie's Star, I'm not sure what it is but blue or dark brown eyes have always shouted out "Star" so that might work. If youwould settle for a nasme that didn't tye his moms name into it than you could name him Squirt. or Jynx. I've always thought pintos and painta have looked like a Jynx. but only if they have blue eyes. Those are the names I would choose from but keep your options open dont want to name him hastily now than later on find that the nae really doesn't fit him.

I use to own horses and rode in arenas against competition, it was wonderful. I had a Paint that was spunky. She did not like men, and I have no idea why, unless it was because they made her a gilding. She was a woman's horse. She was bad about raring up, so I would take plastic bags filled with water & everytime she would do this I would burst the bag of water over her head and she stopped.
I named her "Scout" and she definetely lived up to the name.
I believe this name "Scout" came from the Long Ranger show & it belonged to the Long Ranger's Indian friend Tonto
from the 50's.

I used to live in Victoria, BC Canada and I was at the museum there and they had a sculpture made by some indians in the area. They had named it "Tillicum". It is an indian word meaning "friend". I always said if I ever got a paint or appaloosa horse (as they were favoured by the indians) I would call it "Tillicum" I always seem to find bay horses for some reasons but there you go. I think it is a great horse name.

I had a similar situation, with a Welsh that I used to have. The pony was also really spunky and real spirited, it would take hours to catch him and load him into a horse trailer. We ended up naming him Shelly's Spirit, and then calling him Spirit for short. So maybe something like Kaite's Spirit.

The mom's name was Kaite pronounced "Kayt"? Perhaps you could somehow incorporated that "Kay" sound into his name. You could also tie in his blue eyes which seem pretty unique.
Like Kay Blue. That name is pretty lame, but you get the idea.
Worse gets to worse you can what I did for my dog and name him after Seabiscuit.

Kaite's Shinnin Sun "i.e Son"
Kaite's Karmen
Kaite's Keahi Horse name Keahi means Flames in Hawaii
Kaite's Kegan Horse Name Kegan means Fire.. Irish surname
Keegan... other spelling...
Kaite's KoKo... Native American KoKo means Night
Kaite's KeMe..Native American male name means Secret
Kaite's Kohana.. Native American male means Swift
Kaite's Kitchi.. Native meaning Brave
Kaite's Karsten.. German male name meaning "follower of Christ"
Kaite's Kaspar.. German male name meaning "treasure Bearer
Lots of other names out there but you could register the horse with something like Kaite's Kitchi KeMe
which really means Kaite's Brave Sectet.
and just call him kit, kitchi, keme or even k.k.
Or
Kaite's KeMe KoKo = Kaite's Secret Night
and call him KoKo
lots of idea's good luck...
here is the web sight I got some of them from
after you select a nationality you need to select male names
