My ancient Rabbit used to leak real bad... now I have to replace the carpets and firewall insulation because they're all moldy.

Where do you get that grayish, linty stuff they use as insulation? Will jute work instead?

What is that stuff even called, properly?

Try DynaMat (I'm pretty sure they have a website - Google it and try top locate them). I wouldn't use jute as it will only hold moisture and dirt which will lead to rust.
